    VGA connector

I had just recently bought this device. I have an iPod touch 4th gen and an iPad 2. The via adapter automatically adjusts the video to the best quality the tv or projector can handle. The quality the adapter puts out is stunning for VGA. The iPad mirrors almost everything you can see. The iPod only puts out the video from YouTube and your iPods library. The iPod supported 720p at it's maximum. The iPad can support up to 1080p maximum. I also bought a 60 inch led tv, and the quality from the iPad looked great. Love this product. One thing apple could improve on in the next line up could be a VGA adapter with a digital audio output.

I teach university classes and have started using the adapter to connect my iPad2 to the projector. I have not found an app that does not work with this adapter. I love it!

This is great it allows full mirroring on the iPad 2 and is great for presentations you need to show in class. Works great on monitors and projectors. Im sure anyone with an iPad 2 will enjoy. Exept for one flaw, when you go to play a movie bought from iTunes it is not supported. Other than that great buy.

The is a great adapter for the iPad2 but it gets a bad rap.

Most of the negative reviews if this adapter are for the iPad1 and do not apply to the iPad2. The iPad2 has full mirroring of the screen display and can be used to show TV, youtube, and movies projected to a TV screen or computer monitor via the VGA input in full screen mode at 1080p. You can select 4x3 or 16x9 display as appropriate. It will work with projectors as well. It does not do sound but you can easily use the headphone jack for that.

This is the cheapest adapter will full video functionality for an iPad 2 and also the most versatile. VGA input is on almost every screen these days.

A great way to get your iPad content up where it can be seen. Attach to a VGA cable and display and you are ready to go. Great for making presentations where you have a display but don't want to be bothered with a projector. I've used mine on TV's, displays, and projectors and never had a problem.

I bought this for one of my classes. Sure, the adapter worked but it is over priced. I also couldnt get the screws of the vga cable to stay in so during my presentation I had to use one hand to hold the to parts together. I wont be buying another one.

This adapter is awesome. Works as advertised. Let me say again iPad 2. I hooked it up to the projector in a conference room and could view everything on it. My buddy has an iPad (original) and not so good. He couldn't get anything to be viewed except videos.

Mirroring works fine on my iPad 2

I already ordered this before reading the reviews, but when I read them, most of them were talking about how they couldn't mirror EVERYTHING that was showing on the iPad screen, but I just decided to test it out anyway. I used this to connect my iPad to a projector, and it did exactly what I expected it to do - it mirrored everything on my iPad 2 perfectly!
It also works with my Sony BRAVIA TV which also has a VGA Port, and again, it mirrors everything perfectly.
I'm not sure why other reviews are saying that it only mirrors videos and power points and supported apps, but maybe that's just for the first gen iPad.

    Fail

I bought this adapter to show a keynote presentation on a sony digital projector. The adapter partially worked in that it got the iPad2 screen onto the projector but the keynote presentation was shifted way off to the right of the projected area thus cropping 20% off from, the left hand side. I had to attach my laptop in the end which worked perfectly through the same projector.

I have also had no luck with the apple iPad hdmi adapter which repeatedly goes black or green after every 10 minutes or so of movie playback.

My impression is that apple is rushing these products to market before they are ready.

Please stop posting about DRM protected movies

It would be helpful if people stop blaming the adaptor for not being able to play DRM protected movie. You will find that this probably the case with any device that is not authorised to play the movie. This is not a fault of the adaptor.

If the -ve reviews from people disgruntled with inability to play DRM protected movies is removed then the overall rating will probably shoot 5 stars

Works perfectly on iPad2 - great for projectors or even TVs

Bought this for university teaching - presenting via projector. Keynote works perfectly after moving files across from laptop (get Keynote Remote app and you have an iPhone4 as a remote for the presentation so you are not stuck in front of ipad - very nice!).

Also ran ipad2 into large plasma TV via PC input socket (ie VGA input, so not HDMI quality) - perfect mirroring. Does exactly what it is meant to, so be sure you know what this will do vs the HDMI adaptor.

Keep in mind the following: 1. no audio - must use headphone socket with another cable - clumsy, but works fine; 2. will mirror all of what's on iPad2 - but not all non-apple apps will do this; 3. no power to iPad2 when in use - make sure it's fully charged before use.

I used this with iphone 4 before and it worked (only for tv-out like photos, ipod videos and powerpoint slideshow), but later it doesn't work anymore. I think after I updated my ios to the latest version, this thing was really useless to me. So up till now, I'm still waiting if Apple will update the ios again but with this issue fixed. =(

    Works for iPad 2

I purchased this to use my iPad 2 with my projector for a training class I am planning. I tested it and it works perfectly for what I need. It mirrors exactly what's on the iPad screen. I didn't have any problems with any of my apps including Safari, photos, email, iBooks, Quickoffice, Amplitube, Star Walk, and videos without DRM.

This highlights one exception that may be a deal breaker for some. It absolutely will not project any videos with DRM. I purchased one movie via iTunes just for the fun of it. That movie will not play on my projector using this adapter. However, any videos I ripped from DVDs to m4v project absolutely fine.

On the Apple site is does say, "Mirroring supported only by iPad 2." However, the text is gray on white instead of black on white making it hard to notice. I'm surprised Apple would allow this as unsuspecting iPad 1 users become upset customers realizing they can't do mirroring.

Got this item to present from Keynote, watch films and play games. So far I have not been disappointed. Real Racing 2 HD is a particular high point.
