    Long lasting!

    • Written by from london

I can reproach many things to my MB pro 15" but not its battery life, sometimes I can use it for more than 4hrs without charging it and what is incredible about it is I'm using Wi Fi. The last laptop I had before moving to mac don't even come close to this performance and, I needed to buy another bulky battery if I did want to match this kind of performance. Being a student and traveling inside and outside UK, I can surely tell when a battery has a low capacity as it is synonym of boredom or work not being finished when wanted, unless I'm in a train with plugs. I don't really see the use of having 2 batteries with this computer unless you need to use for more than 5hrs with no plugs around!
Personal Fact: I started to use my computer at 9am this morning and I'm still using it with wi fi on and I still have 1h09mn, it is 12h42pm

    Bulging Battery

    • Written by from Arlington

    Late 2008 15in MBP
Original battery now bulging 3.5 years later, but track-pad still functional, base is not flush
    407 cycles, 94% health, 94% charge
Getting roughly 3 hours on battery with active browser but no streams

Rarely turned off and usually in sleep mode when not in use. Mostly plugged into outlet.

    Not bad

    • Written by from Grand Forks

I have had this same battery on my 15in MBP since mid 2009. I have had no problems with it, but lets face it having a battery for over 3 years is pretty good. One thing people need to realize is that you are not supposed to drain you battery ever. New batteries do not have the "memory" that old batteries have had. The trick to long battery life is keep it above 20ish percent and do not leave it plugged into a power source, unless you absolutely need to. If you treat it right this is a good product, I will be buying a new one!

With proper care, this battery is very durable

    • Written by from Coral Springs

These batteries must be calibrated at least once a month. The battery should be run all the way down until the computer shuts itself off. Then leave it off for at least 2 hours and ideally no more than 5 hours. Next, charge it all the way up. You can use it while it is charging.

I have done this routine faithfully for the past three years. I have recharged mine 341 times and still have 92% of my original capacity.

    Macbook Pro battery

    • Written by from Kettering

Starting from 100%, fully charged, the battery will run down to around 95%, showing a green [not charging] light in the magplug. It will only start recharging again back to 100% when it goes below 95% and then shows a red [charging] light in the magplug. It will show the charging light until it reaches 100%, when it once more shows green. This is normal behaviour for all Apple laptops.

    a nice lifetime

    • Written by from Vadsø

i've had my macbook pro since mid 2009, and now three years later i'm getting a warning that i have to change my battery soon.
In the beginning i remember that it last up to six (maybe seven) hours, at least through the first two lord of the rings movies...
anyways now-a-days it only lasts for two-three hours which i think is not that bad considering that i'm on my 1370 cycle, and that's no joke.
    so 5 STARS from me!

    Battery

    • Written by from TUCSON

This battery has lasted me 3 years, and I am getting a replacement. The battery still works but is losing it's charge. Last night I noticed that the battery has bowed out and the cover to the machine no longer fits. Wow! Overall, I am happy with a battery lasting 3 years, as I use this machine daily.

    No Problems

    • Written by from Concord

I have had a MBP since mid 2008 and the battery is still doing well. I bought a new one for my wife's MBP last year. The batteries are expensive but I haven't had any problems with them at all.

No problem with the battery .

    • Written by from Falls Church

I bought my Mac Pro 3 years ago. Only now is the battery not holding its usual charge. By that I mean, the charge lasts only 3-4 hours instead of 7.
Considering that my husband bought a PC at the same time, and that his battery is now, at the same time as mine, giving him a short recharge time, I don't think that my Apple battery has disappointed me.
So, I give it a FIVE STARS rating.

492 cycles (32months) and still has nearly 3500 mAh

    • Written by from san antonio

Most of the issues I have heard and read about battery life are connected to how the battery is used (or not used). If you leave any rechargeable battery at full charge and plugged in you are going to experience issues with battery life and swelling. Regardless of brand of the battery. Try actually using your laptop for what it is. If you use your computer pretty much as a desktop, buy an iMac that will solve your issues with battery replacement. Otherwise remove the tether from your MBP and use it anywhere and everywhere. You should get much longer life out of your battery.

Still going strong after 31 months

    • Written by from Kleve

Just wanted to chime in because I saw many negative reviews. I've had my late 2008 MacBook Pro 5,1 for more than two and a half years now and after 542 cycles I'm still at 93% capacity. That is all!

    Very pleased

    • Written by from minneapolis

I've had my macbook pro since this model(redesigned) came out in fall of 2008 and have had great success with the machine both in performance and wear. 3 years later I'm still on my first battery and only now starting to see a slight taper in it's life on a full charge. I see comments people have made on this exact batter but they are referencing older vintage machines. People the 2006 or 2004 machines had a whole different technology. These are a rock solid design and this batter is for the 2008 unibody and newer MBPs. I couldn't say more good things about this machine and battery combo. It's a gem.

    Best available

    • Written by from Southfield

I've tried the "best" generic batteries, and they all stink. They generate tremendous amounts of heat (which is wasted energy and shows a lack of efficient operation). This battery works well, doesn't overheat and gives solid battery life.

This is the only real battery worthy of your mac. Don't be fooled by imitators.

Other reviewers seem to think batteries last forever...

    • Written by from BRISTOL

I've still got the original battery in my MacBook Pro, and it's done 425 cycles. Even so, it's only lost 1500mAh of capacity. If you look after the battery, i.e. don't use it when power is accessible, don't leave it flat, but also don't leave it unused for months, it will last for years. This one still lasts 3 hours! Better than most new PCs, and certainly better than any 3 year old PC battery.

    Battery for MBP

    • Written by from Oakland

I have my 1st gen. 15 in MBP all-aluminum unibody (w/ black keyboard) since 2008. Now 5 years later, I've consistently had 3 to 3.5 hrs use out of 1 single charge. Lately the battery warning came on, and I've been procrastinating on getting a new one. One day I let the battery completely drained overnight and the next day the MBP would not wake up, the screen stay completely black, with or without the AC adapter plugged in, with or with the battery removed and AC connected.

I took it to Apple Genius Bar (Emeryville) Marie got it working again (bless her heart!) and today the same problem recurred. I've had my fill with this battery, so I'm not complaining. I'll take Marie's advice though: "Next time if it happens again you need to buy a new battery." Sure, I will have to fork out 130 big American dollars and forego buying a lot of rice with that amount!

4 years and still going strong.

    • Written by from London

Almost at the 4 years point with my battery. It's done 1054 cycles and is still at 93% capacity and lasts over 3 hours.

Don't use your laptop on the power all the time, if it's fully charged let the battery run down and plug it when battery is low. This will make your battery last for years!

    Everyone needs to relax

    • Written by from Cerritos

The battery is a finite product. Apple clearly states that the battery will hold less of a charge after the 300-400 charge/discharge cycles. If you use your computer everyday, thats like maybe a year to a year and a half. Don't go discounting all of Apple just because this clearly expected degradation happens. Everyone's usage style is different, therefore performance will differ from person to person. The expected battery life is stated under half screen brightness, and web-browsing. I give this product a 5 star rating because it performs as it is advertised.

Going strong after almost two years

    • Written by from Haedo

Nevermind all the people here trashing this battery, they seem to not know anything about how to maintain it and take proper care of it. Discharge the battery twice a month and it'll keep on going for several years. I'm using a late 2008 MBP (the first Unibody ones), almost two years and at 145 cycles, it holds 94% of the original capacity (4333 mAh out of 4600). I'll definitely buy a second one when this one reaches 65%, but it seems it wont for a loooong time.
