not recognized after install. had to uninstall and go back to qt6. tried a few times to upgrade, but got the same result. i am not sure if it is a win xp issue, but the end result stands as it is - can't use it, even though i paid for the full version..

    Incompetent people complaining on Quicktime

Quicktime is a great product for showing a lot of various video formats and converting between them. However it is NOT a video editor thus comparing it with Windows Movie Maker is a nonsence. Quicktime does very well what it is supposed to do.
If it cannot play a video this means YOU have not installed required codecs on your PC. Don't blame QT.

I keep reading these bad reviews about quicktime saying that they can't use it or it costs too much. quicktime 7 pro is so easy to install and use and it is much cheaper than any other video editing software I have seen out there. 37.99 CND is cheap even for just the H.264 codec. You can also download the quicktime broadcaster for free and send live video feed to anyone.

Everything worked fine with itunes and Quicktime until I loaded the latest version. I tried removing them and re-installing, made no difference. This was definitely not a good move Apple!

Why did I buy this product?

With all the apple addicts talking about user interface design like they owned the concept and positioning Apple as the great combator against the evil Microsoft Empire, you'd think that Quicktime would be both open and intuitive.

I've used a lot of video editing, video rendering products over the past year but Quicktime Pro may be the worst - most restrictive/closed and non-intuitive interface ever!

Perhaps I'm not geeky enough - it is for the true H.264, .mov, .qt, 2 pass, architecture engineer. I just want to save a few .wmv, .rm, and .avi movie file as .mov files.

Fortunately, they've made it so slow compared to virtually every other product I've ever used, that I can get a lot of yardwork done while it "encodes" video. My wife is real happy with that.

I too hate being left no choice but to download software to fill up my harddrive and complicate an uncomplicated function. I don't want itunes but I went ahead and downloaded and installed it just to find that I cannot get quicktime to install. I've been using quicktime for going on 15 years if memory serves me right and now it seems you've joined the flanks and are twisting our arms to forcefeed us software we maynot want in order to get the program I thought I was so familliar with. It's a sad day but I guess inevitable, now I need too hunt up a program that will replace yours if I can find one before my harddrive is overfilled... I'm disapointed in you I was under the impression you were going to stick to values of the past....good luck

I bought QT Pro and am having playback problems. Unfortunately I'm apparently on my own as Apple seems to have no real support for this product. I read through all the material online but it didn't solve my problem. What a waste.

    Quick TIme 7 Pro

It's a wonderfull tool but should be something provided when you buy the new ipods that also play dvd/movies.

This is a hidden/extra cost to you when it should not be.

The price/cost of my wife's birthday present was actually $330.00 and not $300.00 because I had to buy QuickTime 7 Pro ($30.00) to be able to play movies on the Ipod.

Download Windows Movie Maker instead - it's free and has significantly more functionality. I had a full edited movie with sound in minutes. Quicktime 7 Pro deserves zero stars is a huge disappointment and I really regret spending the $29.99. Apple should stick to music.

Dear Apple: you are acting more and more like Real Networks and MS. Why must I install iTunes before QT will even download (per Tech Support and Apple Store instructions)?

Personally, I don't like loading s/w I don't use but apparently I have no choice. Please play clean in the future... thx !!

After downloading I was unable to view any Quicktime movie trailers. Trouble-shooting got me no positive results. Sent e-mails to Apple Support and recieved no response. This was probably all an oversight and likely that some conflict in my XP based PC was the problem, Still waiting to hear from you Apple, you make great products , that is when you can get them to work?

Would NOT have bought if I had been able to test the software before buying. Is NOT user friendly. Has been very time consumeing. Have used much easier software from other vendors. Just 1 more thing to add to the list of my dissatisfaction with apple products.

I recently purchased a new Pansonic DMC-FZ28 super-zoom Lumix camera whose software came bundled with basic Quiktime and which I up-dated to 7 Pro so I could capture still frames from the HD movies. What frustration. Following the.mov file capture sequence provided in the on-line manual, I attempted to save the frame(s)as a JPEG file but the program would always hangup when it came to the final step of choosing a compression type. It would then display an "encounterd error" message and close. No matter what I tried I have yet to be able to capture or display any movie frames using this program.

Its Kinda Good and Kinda Bad...

QuickTime has many cool features that make it stand out but it also has some features that are not good... like Speed! Many people want a fast and accurate converter to convert thier videos very fast and also very good, QuickTime is good in Quality but very very slow sometimes... Apple should make QuickTime for PC users be compatible with Hardware Components to make it fast like ATI or NVIDIA. I think QuickTime is going to be very good, we just have to give apple some time to think of the things that quicktime needs. For People who are not sure if you should buy or not, Check out the other peoples Reviews and see what they have to say or just learn for yourself in the Quicktime website.

    Slow, Horrible, Waste of money!

Having just bought my new iPod, I was all excited about being able to play my pre-existing music videos. The sales told me that QuickTime Pro was needed to convert the format so I did what I was told and spent $40CAD on the program. Little did I know, it took 20 minutes just to convert 20% of a 3 minute-music-video. I ended just going on google to search for a freeware that does the conversion, and IT WORKS MUCH FASTER AND DOES NOT LAG MY COMPUTER!

Quicktime Pro was certainly not money well spent. For those new iPoders just like me, a word of advice: Do some research first before getting tricked into buying a program that does not work!

    Okay but not great

I purchased this product to export .mov files to .avi files so I could use them. It does do it BUT the quality isn't great. After playing with the quality settings in the export window, I was able to improve the quality but it still isn't great. I will use them with this project as it doesn't need to be great but if you need high quality this isn't the product for you. Just in case you're wondering the videos in the .mov format when viewed in quicktime were good quality just not after being exported to AVI.

now after reading reviews I have to worry about it crashing itunes. Oh well I may have to update this if that happens.

Complete waste of money. Spent the $30 thinking it would help with my IPOD, but found it worthless at converting my files, so I never used it for many months. Yesterday I finally found a use: the recorder to record tapes to mp4--then suddenly QuickTime crashed, no known reason, and now refuses to open. Don't bother with this incessant advertizing junk of software.
