It will when the computer goes to sleep. You can turn it off completely by holding down the sleep button. It has spectacular battery life with the included batteries.

How smooth is response with a Mac Pro?
I bought a magic mouse a while back that skipped and had very poor response with a Mac Pro. I exchanged it for a new one with no improvement and have no problem with the mouse when using it with my Macbook Pro. Others have had this problem and it is apparently due to poor bluetooth reception through the case of the Mac Pro and/or weak bluetooth signal from the magic mouse. I would really like to get a Magic Trackpad but am afraid I might have the same problem with it. Is anyone having this problem with the trackpad and a Mac Pro? Thanks.

Answer
I have been using a trackpad (MacPro 1,1 with a plug-in bluetooth) for a few months. It is very fun to slip along like a hummingbird when moving from place to place, yes, smooth as silk, for sure: at first, it was so smooth it sometimes picked up the odd folder and dropped it somewhere along its path without my even noticing! You develop a light touch.
My complaint is that it's not often possible to select a section of text and drag and drop it – at all, let alone where you want it (you can cut and paste).
There is no easy right-click, but you can work around that, too.
The fun aspect is definitely addicting, and I haven't seriously considered going back to my trackball. But I do use a Wacom pad for Photoshop and such where detail is required. I hope this is helpful.- Answered by Laurel R from Tomales

Yes, it will (the new Mac mini has bluetooth 4.0 and Lion, both are beyond the minimum HW/SW requirements to use a Magic Trackpad).
Note: I think, that applies to all shipping Macs right now.- Answered by Chris S from San Jose

are you able to invert the x and y axis's?
i have a black macbook.
im wondering if it would be possible to change the settings so that i can use the pad in a different way..
i would like to be able to use it but placing it over the top of my current track pad. i see this being easiest by turning the pad around so the battery rail is closest to the user and the (bottom) of the pad is almost touching the spacebar..
i also believe this would keep the track pad more level.- Asked by Stephen K from Delano

maybe in a future update they will allow for it, but at present, there is no way.- Answered by Anthony-paul H from Coburg

Does it work with maya which requires a 3 button mouse?

Best Answer
It can work with a little bit of user setup. You'll want to use an extension called BetterTouchTool to create your own gestures to perform the actions normally associated with the additional mouse buttons. While I can't recommend the Magic Trackpad wholeheartedly enough, I personally keep a Razer Orochi gaming mouse around for use with apps that require extra buttons. For everyday use, the Magic Trackpad is the best desktop navigation tool ever created. But it is not well suited to tasks which require precise clicking and dragging using multiple buttons. For that, it's all about Razer. They are one of the few companies that is building hardware on the same quality level as Apple. Their mice are the best in the business.

Answer
I think we will need more information to answer this question, but I will try.
The magic trackpad is an ambidextrous device that requires one hand to operate. It is touch sensitive, and will respond to touch from any part of the body (foot, elbow, etc.) Obviously without the flexibility of fingers it will be a simple point and click device, but it may still be easier to operate for those with limited movement. (Going into a store to try one out is likely your best bet.)- Answered by David K from San Jose

No - there are no drivers, but there are the usual fanatic sites that purport to tell you how to overcome this deficiency. For enthusiasts only these.

In what respect ?
Apple Magic Trackpad offers all of the funtionality of the trackpad on the MacBook line but with an 80% greater playing field.
I guess if you have used iMovie on a MacBook then you would be right at ease with this and say an iMac !
Remember that it is a trackpad at present - not a graphics tablet !
Hope this helps.

Best Answer
Probably not. (it's more of a mouse replacement with many gesture interface controls)
If you want to draw, look at a Wacom Bamboo or Intuos digitizing tablets. They come with a pressure sensitive stylus and most drawing/art apps support them.- Answered by Chris S from San Jose
