I was disappointed with the 720p resolution I got from mirroring the "Retina" display and THEN read the Apple Web site.

It is excessively overpriced for what it is and performs poorly. This is an absolute insult from apple.

I bought this adapter with the intention of connecting my ipad to my tv and streaming apps such as Lovefilm, BBC iPlayer and 4od. Be aware that none of these applications will work when connected via HDMI to a display. You will receive a notification that states the app does not support.

Possibly ignorance on my part, but to me, this was a big plus point of buying the adapter in the first place. I contacted 4od and received the below response when I asked why there was no support:

"Unfortunately the reason Airplay no longer works is that we don't have the rights to broadcast all our shows using Airplay, so this feature is not enabled."

    Hope this helps.

I also have the iPhone 6 Plus, and it works ok with both.

I have been enjoying gaming on the iPad like I never did on any phone, including the bigger iPhone. The size is just right, not small and not too big for portability. But I wanted to port the games to the bigger screen when I'm home (the 50in TV).
Mind you, I have the apple TV, but the lag on it when mirroring via AirPlay, makes it unusable for gaming.
Enter this Lightning to HDMI adapter. The lag is noticeable better, although still there, but kept to a minimum. Now I can play my favorite racing game Asphalt 8 on the biggest screen in the house!

    Side notes:
Mirroring, means it's the SAME image from your iOS device to your TV or monitor. The iPad has a different shape than a TV or monitor, meaning it won't fill the full screen to the 16:9 aspect ratio from the 4:3 of the iPad. I wish there would be some way to do it once you start mirroring. It DOES it for video though, either on my TV or even on my monitor.
The iPhones & iPod (5 and after), do have the 16:9 aspect ratio, so the apps that let you rotate to landscape, will be able to fill up the TV or monitor screen, well, almost. I say almost, because at least on my TV, it doesn't. There's a small frame like space left out. But it does fill it up through AirPlay mirroring on the apple TV oddly enough.

Apple, please fix this. I know you can make it so it's all full screen across devices, I know you can.

    Hi Apple,

When are you going to fix this or announce a refund for this problem. I have been a faithful Apple customer since 198 Hi Apple,

When are you going to fix this or announce a refund for this problem. I have been a faithful Apple customer since 1984.

I'm a grad student that teaches a couple of classes a semester. Using Keynote or Powerpoint with an iPad Air was awesome, I didn't have to lug around a laptop anymore. But it was too good to last. I guess that would cut into your MacBook sales.

It's strange because it still works with my iPhone 5s, but it doesn't work with the iPad.

Let us know if we can return them for a refund. Or is a class-action lawsuit necessary? Or contacting the NY Times? Or Wall Street Journal?

    Sincerely,
    Very Unhappy Customer (minus $50)

I had to fiddle with it to stop getting a message saying 'out of range'. It worked intermittently for a while before breaking altogether. Considering the astronomic cost, this is a very shoddy add on. Buyer beware.
