BIG PROBLEM: they do not connect to your Iphone 5 if you have a case. (I have the speck case). Since EVERYONE has a case, I am confused as to why Apple would make this product, or not even warn you that it does not plug in when a case is on your phone. The cord adaptor is a bit more expensive, but at least you won't ruin your case by having to continually put it on and off to use the adaptor.

  • Will not work if your iPhone 5 has any kind of cover

I have an Apple-like bumper cover (similar to iPhone 4/4S) and the metal contact on the adapter is WAY TOO short. I suggest getting the Lighting to 30-pin Adapter Cable instead. The cable has a thin longer Lightning connection that will work with most iPhone 5 covers.

  • Useful but expensive

It seems to be a useful adapter to have, but for it to cost £25.00? Seems a bit of a rip off to me...

  • Functional charge adaptor, no audio for docks

After all, Apple were pr I have a couple of docks (both Sony) based on the 30 pin design, and I sure thought carefully beforehand. After all, Apple were promising this was not just 100% compatible but also fully digital.

Fact is, NEITHER of my Sony docks accept audio OR controls from these adaptors.

I don't mind changing minor tech for necessary upgrades, but at £30 this is a terrible adaptor. You're better off chancing one of the 3rd party options to at least get sound.

However now I have to find tasty new docks!

    Conclusion: don't buy unless desperate.

As soon as you connect two Apple cables together you get an "incompatible" message, which is frankly a disgrace. This means you have to buy multiple, separate cables at huge expense for each device to even stand a chance of getting them to work with the same peripherals. Judging from other posts, even this won't provide full functionality on many of them. Sort it out quickly Apple, the competition are catching up and overtaking fast.
