don't hesitate to buy this
Essentially, if you use this widget to play your itunes movies / hulu / youtube / DVDs on a regular TV, you'll be blown away by th e quality. Further, the crummy AVI movies our digital camera takes look awesome on the TV!
It's much more pleasant to watch programming on our TV while sitting on the couch than watch on the smallish laptop screen.
I was a bit hesitant to try this because the last video card with composite out I had lacked in quality. IT's totally not the case with my macbook's DVI out. …- Written by Gilbert Y from Braintree

Great Product!!
My wife and I purchased this adapter about two months ago so we could watch movies that we had on iTunes on out TV, and it has wor ked perfectly. Very good quality of video using an S-video cable. Also works out great to rent movies over iTunes. With the Apple remote, I can sit on the couch and watch movies or TV shows through my Macbook on the tv without getting up. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. …

NOT for Macbook AIR!
I bought one. It even says "MacBook Air" right on the package. Look closely at the video port on your Macbook Air, then look close ly at the image of the product - There are NO PORTS on the Air that this thing fits in to. I took it to the Apple store in UTC San Diego and much fussing around they told me this product is for the ORIGINAL Macbook Air and mine was too new. So I asked for one that would fit my "too new Air" and after much fussing around they came to the conclusion that it can't be done. Lovely. Back to streaming NetFlix thru my Wii

There is no direct adapter for this use case. Your TV is ANALOG, the new Apple TV is HDMI and that i s a purely DIGITAL output. There are some expensive digital to analog adapter boxes available, but with the $300 or so you would spend on that, I would recommend you spend that on a new HDTV that can take advantage of all the HD content out there (and connect to your new Apple TV) …
