    Not Working With iOS 8

    • Written by from Sheffield

Ever since upgrading from iOS 7 to iOS 8 on the iPad 3, this adaptor hasn't been working properly. There is sound but no picture on the TV. But plugging this adaptor into an iPhone 4S running on iOS 6 then it works perfectly.

    iOS 7.1? Forget it...

    • Written by from Woodbridge

Worked great all the way up until I updated to iOS 7.1... Now all I get is a black screen on my TV saying source not found. Apple, please push a new update to fix this issue, or stop advertising that this product is supported.

READ THE DESCRIPTION FOR LIGHTNING CONNECTOR, Says its not compatible

For those who are trying to use this with the lightning to dock adapter, read the description for the lightning adapter before you buy. It clearly says that it is not compatible.

    Poor image quality

    • Written by from Madison

Image quality is washed out compared to same videos sent to same TV via AirPlay and Apple TV box.

This will work OK for my intended purpose - connecting to TVs while traveling - but spend $60 more for Apple TV at home/office.

Worked with iPads 2 and 3. Did not work with iPhone 5 via Apple adapter, even though Apple Store employee said it would.

Losing service when I plug in the adapter?

    • Written by from Waco

Just purchased a new hdmi adapter from the apple store today. Was really excited to get one as I wanted to play Netflix over my phone. Plugged the device in and tested on a video which worked fine. But as soon as I go to Netflix and try and start something I lose service and the phone goes to searching.... Do I have to have wifi connection in order to watch it or what?

Does not work with NFL Sunday Ticket that i can see

    • Written by from Kailua

Apple 30 pin Digital AV adapter with NFL Sunday Ticket on iPhone 4.
I only get sound no matter what i do. No video. I've tried unplugging, plugging back in, restarting the app. Having the app closed then plugging the cables in, then starting the app and it doesn't work. I only get sound.

    Read before you buy!

    • Written by from Milwaukie

So I was given this adapter, which was awesome, however I assumed that it would mirror everything on the screen which it does not with certain apps ( purchased movies, Hulu, Netflix, etc). No big deal, because it still played the content I wanted with Netflix and Hulu. However, the movies I purchased wont play because they're protected..... All I want to do is have some buddies over, get high, watch casa de mi padre, have a few laughs, eat a ton, and pass out but Apple and Hollywood has betrayed my trust, ruined my plans, and have defiled the purpose of this adapter with its BS legal restrictions.

Av adaptor for iPod 4 th generation

    • Written by from ulverston

Having purchased Av adaptor from apple store, having explained to assistant that it was for both my iPad latest generation, and for my iPod latest generation, generally for iplayer, as i work shifts, the iPad worked fine as it says on the !!!, however the Av adator only worked on audio, with no Av picture from the iPod. Tried new cable and different tvs in home, same result...am I right or wrong to expect this to work on my iPod.

    Cheers srj

    Works... barely.

    • Written by from Knoxville

I generally love Apple products, so believe me when i say that this is one of apple's worst designed products. The 3 inch cable attaches to your iDevice purely on some springy tabs. Whenever you move your, lets say for now, iPad 2, it dislodges itself, severing connection. Then you must finagle with it until it reconnects.
That being said, if you never touch your device or a gust of hard wind doesn't blow on it, it functions flawlessly. Apple apps work well, mirroring works well, and most third party apps work well.
Basically, this works well, but only if you never touch it... Ever!

    Less functionality on iPod Touch

    • Written by from Columbus

Where it says "see everything on your screen", that applies to the iPhone and iPad. On an iPod touch, you won't see everything on the screen nor on some videos. I have MLB At Bat and can, for example, see a full-length game on a connected TV but not condensed games. If you have an iPod touch, these limitations should be considered.

    Disappointed

    • Written by from bristol

Disappointed that it would not work on samsung plasma hd tv, just comes up with 'not compatible' on the screen although it does send the sound through.

Works well on cheaper lcd tv but as the samsung is our main tv not too pleased.

Check with apple on compatiblilty before buying.

    Works in spite of itself.

    • Written by from Draper

I have to dock this product a couple stars because it doesn't work on an iPhone 4S, and it keeps falling out of my iPad 3's connector.

If you connect the Apple Digital AV Adapter to the iPad 3, an alert will pop up saying "This Accessory is Not Supported." But it DOES actually work, and when connected to a 1080p TV it provides a choice of 7 UIScreen sizes, up to 1920x1280.

So this adapter appears to be iOS developers' workaround for good HDTV external UI display until AirPlay and Apple TV catch up. (They only output 1280x720 even with iPad 3 and the 3rd generation Apple TV.)

doesnt work well with iphoto with iphone 4s

    • Written by from Guadalajara

i just bought it and tried it with iphoto on the iphone 4s and it does not mirror the screen
    the description says:
"Use the Apple Digital AV Adapter to mirror whatever’s on your iPad or iPhone 4S screen — apps, presentations, websites, and more — on your HDTV or HDMI-compatible display in up to 1080p HD (movies play at up to 720p)."

    it is a false statement

i wanted to show the diary on the big screen and it just didnt work i could only see the iphoto logo.
Seems to work well with other apps so far
