Hi
Flash storage is essentially a really big USB memory stick instead of using a standard Hard Drive which stores information on disks inside the drive. here are the Pros/cons to flash:-
Faster to access information from the drive
More realiable as they have a lower failure rate
Even more reliable as if the mac is dropped beyond repair you stand a very good chance of recovering your information without issue as their are no disks inside which are usually shattered/scratched resulting in a loss of information
help to make a unit lighter and more portable due to small size
Expensive
Small sizes
hope this helps- Answered by Simon F from Darwen

Does Macbook Pro with retina display support IR remote?
Looks like Macbook Pro with retina display do not has IR receiver compare with old Macbook Pro.

Best AnswerNo, it doesn't. There is no IR sensor on the front of the new Retina MBP. There is also no battery indicator on the side so you have to open it up and use the one in the Menu Bar. Very annoying.

The brand new models do not. You can use any external USB based optical drive with them, including the USB SuperDrive that Apple makes.
All of the previous models (prior to 2012) have optical drives, with the slot on the side of the computer.- Answered by Christina T from Lake Oswego

Best AnswerFirst, upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard. You can purchase this at some stores, but only if they still have supply. They will not have it on display and you have to specifically ask for it. You can also order it online directly from Apple:
store.apple.com /us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Once you have 10.6 installed, you can update to 10.6.8 and use the Apple Mac Store to upgrade to 10.7 Lion because the MacBook4,1 and MacBook4,2 do not support 10.8 Mountain Lion. However, you might need to call Apple Care in order to purchase this over the phone, as they no longer list 10.7 Lion in their app store.- Answered by Miles R from Lakewood

Best AnswerNo, the new iMacs do not include a CD/DVD drive. Apple sells an external drive (USB Superdrive) for $80.

Macbook Pro 13 inch or Macbook Air 13 inch
I want a Macbook but I don't know which one to get. On my Mac I want to
Surf the web
E-mail poeple
Use all the office documents(e.g. word, powerpoint, excel)
Store all my songs photos etc on it
Watch some movies on it but not that many
I also want the lastest software on it like OS X Mountain Lion on it and the upgrades to that.
I won't play many games on it so I am not worried about graphics.
So as you can see i want to do the basics.
I would prefer the Macbook Air but i was wondering if it would have enough space on it, would it? I would aslo like it to quite portable but that is not a big concern.
What Laptop would you recommend?- Asked by Thomas L

Best AnswerI've had everything Mac has to offer. My uses are about like yours, with the addition of using a dictation/transcription program. I also do some streaming of movies & such. While I have a big desktop iMac, a couple of 15 inch Macbooks and a couple of iPads, I find I use the 13 inch Air much more than any of the others.
It's the ultimate in portability (just as good as an iPad), unobtrusive on my desk at work (where the Microsoft darkside holds sway), and the external CD drive works great. It's by no means necessary with all the developers who let you download their software directly, but I just like having the CD/DVD option.
Anyway, I don't think you'll be disappointed if you spring for the Air. I haven't been.- Answered by Kay J from Port Orchard

how do I get files off usb2 if there is only usb 3 on the new macbook pros?
My current MacBook pro crapped on me and despite your wonderful tech people, they could not retrieve the data from my hard drive. I am wondering, if I buy a new MacBook pro, how do I get the information that I have on numerous usb 2 onto the new laptop if it only has usb 3 ports available?
Also, I have a time machine back up on an external hard drive but I am afraid that a virus may have been the culprit of the significant damage done. The only things that I care about on that back up are my photos in iPhoto and in photo booth, is it possible just to import those items and nothing more from the time machine backup?- Asked by James J from Edmonton

AnswerUSB 3.0 is backward compatible with USB 2.0, so using your thumb drives or external HDs or what-have-you won't be a problem.
If you fear a virus inflicted your data on the hard drive, I would be wary of ANY file you import over to the new computer, but, yes, you can pick and choose what to reinstall. Check out Migration Assistant,- Answered by Ross G from Austin

Can I upgrade the memory and SSD storage after I bought MacBook Pro with Retina display?

Best AnswerLooking at the pictures, it appears that the RAM is soldered to the MB, so you probably can't upgrade it. It does appear that the Flash Storage could potentially be upgraded, but it uses a proprietary card format (not the more common SSD 2.5" drive format), so you probably won't be able to get a larger card from Apple anytime soon (and if you could, it would be less expensive to just buy the larger storage now).
