Product Information

  • The 45W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector so if someone should trip over it, the cord disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Air stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC lead is provided with the adapter for maximum lead length, while the AC wall adapter (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect travelling companion, the adapter has a clever design that allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible only with MacBook Air featuring MagSafe 2 power port.

Quite careful with my equipment. This one simply stopped working under no significant stress conditions. Quality control alert.

When I saw the reviews I thought they were joking. I feel like sending the entire laptop back because of the adapter. It falls off for no reason and gets in the way. Apple needs to do a recall.

The new MagSafe 2 hasn't been available for that long - only since the new 2012 MBA's came out in mid-June. The new MagSafe 2's charger attachment magnet is incredibly weak and will detach at the slightest provocation. Or unhappy thought. Or suspicious look. This product is terrible and Apple should fix this as soon as possible.

I also really dislike how thin the wire covering is for the adapter; the casing for the wires ripped so easily (along with the wires), and now I have to buy an $80 replacement for a charger that will most likely rip again in the next few months. Please find a way to make a more durable power adapter. If you are going to charge us $80 for a replacement, at least make one that is worth the $80.

Clearly, this is a fairly common problem as there are products sold online specifically to prevent it; I wish I had discovered them sooner, as this is an expensive cable to replace based on a design that any amount of testing could have identified as unsuitable for long-term use. Very bad form on Apple's part to have released such a shoddy product.
