Product Information

  • The 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adaptor features a magnetic DC connector so if someone trips over it, the lead disconnects harmlessly and your MacBook Pro stays put safely. It also helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

When the connection is secure, an LED located at the head of the DC connector lights up; an amber light lets you know that your notebook is charging, while a green light tells you that you have full charge. An AC lead is provided with the adaptor for maximum lead length, while the AC wall adaptor (also provided) gives you an even easier and more compact way to travel.

Designed to be the perfect travelling companion, the adaptor has a clever design that allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage.

This power adaptor recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

Compatible with MacBook Pro with Retina display.

Ratings & Reviews

  • Magnet not Strong Enough

    1.0 out of 5 stars

I have had all versions of MagSafe. The Original T, The L, and now MagSafe 2 with my MBP Retina display. I am a fan of the T des ign but the magnet holding it in is way to weak. I don't know if it is because its smaller profile, but I can barely touch my laptop without the thing falling out. It is becoming extremely annoying to the point where I might need to walk around with a brand new MBP with its power cord duct taped to it! I believe the magnets are in the systems itself but please Apple come out with a revised adapter with a second set of neodymium magnets in the charging tip to counter act the problem and grab the machine tighter. I'd rather it be bulkier and work properly. I understand the point that is supposed to break away, but not by a feather landing on it! We miss Steve Jobs. I hope this isn't the type of product glitches we will have to get accustomed to now. Apple is supposed to be Apple, This isn't Apple at all.

Why Apple? Why did you have to change back to the T charger? Im constantly having to plug it back in when the computer sits on my lap. Please bring back the L charger!!!

  • Worst Plug In-DO NOT BUY

    1.0 out of 5 stars

This is the worst plug in. I slightly move my computer and the whole thing comes unplugged. I just read a review where somebody st ated that this charger controls them, and I completely agree. I have to constantly worry about the charger staying in. I had an old macbook 13 in., and that charger/magnet was great!!! It would stay plugged in when it need to, but unplugged if I tripped on it or something. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

  • MagSafe 2 Adapter stopped working suddenly

    1.0 out of 5 stars

I have MBP Retina display (1-month old) and today I observed that its MagSafe 2 Power adapter stopped working suddenly. No orange/ green lights. Tried changing power outlets but still no success. Luckily I had bought a spare one too. So currently using it for charging. But its really disappointing that within 1 month power adapter would die. Not a good sign Apple.

  • Horrible.

    1.0 out of 5 stars

Just purchased a retina macbook and this is the only thing i cannot stand! I suppose it would work ok if the macbook is permanentl y sitting on a table. Every time i move the macbook it falls out, It is the weakest adapter i have come across. I had the L shaped one on my old macbook and had zero issues with it!
