Quicken 2007 for Mac
Quicken for Mac
Written by AB from Ellicott City

I've been using Quicken software on PC's for years. Finally switched to a Mac.
Installed Quicken for Mac 2007 and have found it super easy to use. Before you start have your checkbook and /or bank statement handy. You'll need your routing and account numbers. If you have questions your bank's online services support hotline can lead you through the process.
I like Quicken 2007 for Mac a lot more than the version for PC use.
Oh... did I mention the widget? Quicken gives you an option to add a widget during the software installtion. This feature is great when you want to fill in a few transactions but don't want to open Quicken!1748 of 2194 people found this useful

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Think Twice!
Written by AM from Bloomfield Hills
Nov 14, 2006
To all Mac users who are thinking about purchasing Quicken for mac... ATTENTION --> buy this product with VERY low expectations, especially if you are familar with Quicken for Windows!
I have used Quicken since it's debut. Two years ago I made a change to Apple. I love my Mac but Quicken has been a thorn in my side (as it should be for Apple), since it is the ONLY reason for my discontent with my Mac. For this reason, I'm shocked that Apple hasn't gotten involved and met with the Quicken people to coerce them into improving this product.
Quicken is notorious for releasing products with bugs and especially with the Mac versions, the improvements are a joke. The current version for Mac has half the features of the Windows version and further, Quicken is lax at fixing bugs.

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Very few new features, and much fewer than the windows version.
Written by JM from LADERA RANCH

Quicken 2007 for Mac is not much different than Quicken 2006 for Mac. Intuit tends to make some minor changes to the interface, add a minor feature or two, fix one or two bugs a year, and then charge full price to upgrade to the next version.
The fact that this is not a universal binary shows the amount of time and effort that intuit puts into the mac version of quicken. If you really want the latest greatest Quicken, the one that Intuit spends time and money improving, get paralells or run boot camp and use the windows version.
If you don't believe me, go over to intuit.com and check out the user forums for quicken for mac; you'll be able to make a more informed decision about investing in this software.1235 of 1468 people found this useful

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Piece of useless sh__t
Written by CJ from Berkeley

Don't buy this product. It's terrible. Intuit should be ashamed for selling such a miserable, lousy piece of Software. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I've used Quicken for Windows for years and have come to love its functionality. Quicken for Mac is like the ugly duckling of the family. Not only does it lack much of the functionality of Quicken for Windows, the conversion process is horrible and results in lots of flawed data.
Run - don't walk - away from this product.149 of 165 people found this useful

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Don't PLAN on Retiring
Written by PT
Jan 5, 2009
My wife and I are long time Quicken PC users, loved Quicken but hated our PC. We were very happy to find out that Quicken made a version for the Mac (WE LOVE OUR MAC) only to be horribly disappointed to find out that the Mac version is simply terrible. The conversion of our financial data when moving to the Mac took two days of manual corrections and then we found out that one of the PC versions best features, the retirement planner, is no longer available (never was integrated into the software but was supposed to be available online). Quicken's attitude? Oh well. Apple should stop featuring this product in its store as it doesn't meet a Mac users expectations for excellence.

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Not impressed
Written by JP from Atlanta

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my MacBook Pro but I also love Quicken. The Windows version that is. I loaded the Mac version, imported the data from my PC version and found the program to lack the rich features that I had become accustomed to after 7 years using the PC version. My recommendation is that if you're a seasoned Windows version user, stick with what works well using Parallels Desktop virtual machine.

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Quicken so far so good
Written by JW from Del Rio
Jan 13, 2007
Despite all of the other reviews, thus far Quicken 2007 for mac has done most everything I wanted it do, plus a few things I didnt know I wanted.
I am not a previous quicken user but I love my mac. I needed somthing that would allow me to forecast how much money Im spending and on what. I wanted somthing to supplement my current online banking useage but in a central location. So far after about 3 hours of setting up accounts and just learning the ins and outs of the program Ive learned more about my personal finances then ever before. Once you get things setup and tell quicken what you spend and where you spend it, it allows YOU to analyze your spending and see exactly where your money goes, and in my case find out your own "bad" habits with money.
I think one of the most beneficial features of the system is the easy to set up accounts. It has provisions for almost and account type you can think of, and in the budget feature you can set up custom "categories" for any type of expense. Based on the categories that you use, it will show you conviently in a pie chart where you spend your money.
I personally use the budget and forecasting features the most, but i have to a small degree have looked at the investment features and am able to see my investments in a daily easy to read report. Additionally I plan to use the expense tracking feature to help me with itemized deductions during the next tax year.
Be prepared to spend a few hours minimum setting up your accounts and learning the software, as every person is unique, you should be willing to invest this time so that you can get the most out of the program for yourself. After initial setup, if your like me and constantly analyze things, quicken only requires about 15 minutes of maintenance to update your daily spending etc. (It should be noted that if your bank has a compatible online system that supports quicken, this can automatically be done for you each day).
In conclusion, I think most of the reviews of this product are biased due to other people's prior experience with intuit products. If judging QUICKEN 2007 for mac as its own program, I think it deserves more credit than it has recieved.122 of 130 people found this useful

PC to MAC Quicken
Written by KC from Scottsdale

Recently went from PC Quicken to MAC Quicken and found that they are not the same. Have had many problems with the "Download" from my bank, and Mac keeps looking for an other account when it already has one when it comes to my Credit Cards. If these companies do not support Mac, why are they listed in their "Institutions" as one that they support? PC was easier to use and worked better.

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Disappointing
Written by DC from Geneva
Dec 1, 2007
After much consideration, I switched from pc to Mac Pro last fall - glad I did, but my Quicken application hasn't been as happy. I was poking along relatively well with basic functions (e.g.: budgeting, balancing accounts), but when I switched to Leopard a week ago, I can no longer use the application. I have been unable to find any fix that will even allow me to open the Quicken application. I've tried getting tech support from Apple and Intuit - no one seems to be able to help. Very, very disappointed.

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Lackluster
Written by RJ from Waco

Started using Quicken with Apple IIE. The upgrades to Quicken are not worth much. If they charged $10.00 for the upgrade it would be more than enough to compensate them for their effort. For the last few years, the upgrades have been limited to minor fixes with no drastic changes to the overall program. Quicken has a lot of junk that I haven't any use for. One person wrote in his review about taking a look at what Quicken gives the Window users and you will see how much the Mac users are short changed for the same amount of money and he is so right. If you will remember, they were going to drop the Mac line all together a few years back, and I guess they should have done so for what they have given us from that point on.

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Awful...almost useless
Written by MR from Littleton

I bought this software because I wanted to track my household expenses against a BUDGET! Do you hear me Intuit?? This is what 99% of people who buy this product want to do! But after months of fighting with the budget reporting module I have given up. If you make transfers from your main account to other accounts (e.g. savings, mortgage, credit cards), and you want to BUDGET these payments/transfers, you cannot generate a monthly report that includes these transfers and shows you how you are doing against your budget.

Quicken 2007 for Mac
two thumbs down for Quicken for Mac
Written by SW from Waco
Nov 30, 2006
I've used Quicken for Mac for about 10 years and am tired of paying as much or more for something that has many fewer features than the PC version. The thing that gripes me most about Intuit's "sunset" policy is that it's just a heavy-handed attempt to force users to upgrade.
I wrote Intuit and informed them that unless and until the Mac version was a full-featured as the PC version, I wouldn't be upgrading, at any price.108 of 120 people found this useful

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Not much of nothing new
Written by TW from West Hollywood
Sep 11, 2006
I have been using Quicken on Mac for more than a year now after some experience using it on a PC. The Mac version has always been the sad younger sibling of the Windows version and this year is very obvious. I upgraded last year and then again this year - not much new added - the PC version looks like is vaulted ahead this year while the Mac version only got a few new features. This will be my last year to upgrade until they spend some quality time getting the two versions more in synch. If you upgraded last year, I would save your money. The widget it not worth it.

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Great Product! Glad I ignored the negative reviews.
Written by JH from Harleysville
Sep 13, 2008
Due to the negative reviews, we almost didn't switch over to the Apple, because 60% of what we did on a PC was manage our finances. However, we decided to make the switch, and I got Quicken for the Mac.
The program installed easily, and before I got going I spent time reading the online manual to get familiar with the program. It was incredibly easy to set up all of the same Quicken Accounts that I had on my PC. Once that was done, all I had left was bringing over my non reconciled transactions, which took a Saturday afternoon to get them all over and reconciled. For the month of September, I decided to manage all of our finances on both the Apple and Windows PC ....a little overkill. The only issue that I've had so far is I don't think the reporting is as robust on the Mac as it is on the PC....but I'm still learning. However, it does all the main reports that I need, Income/Expense vs Budget, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow.
I'd recommend this product.....don't let the negative reviews stop you.

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Works Fine
Written by SH from Frederick
Jun 8, 2008
I have been a Quicken user on Windows for years. I keep my checking, savings, and 401(k) on Quicken and I do not archive each year so I have quite a large file. I use Quicken for Mac on an iMac running Tiger. I had delayed the purchase of this product for over a year based on the reviews that are posted here. However, I must say that I have not experienced the problems that the I have read. All my data except my 401(k) transferred just fine. You just need to read the instructions and follow them. My 401(k) did not transfer correctly, but it never downloaded correctly using the Windows version of Quicken either. For my 401(k) I just go online once a month and record the new balance into Quicken for Mac. I have no problems reconciling my checking, and various savings accounts either. Quicken for Mac takes a little getting used to because the format is different than the Windows version, but after about an hour you should feel comfortable with it. I rated it four stars because I think there is room for improvement in the user interface and the reports. If you are considering buying Quicken for Mac go ahead and give it try and don't let all the negative reviews scare you after all it does come with a 60 day money back guarantee.

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Intuit should be ashamed of this product
Written by BG from New York
Mar 27, 2008
I have used quicken for over 10 years in various releases for a PC with no problems. The Mac version is rotten to the core. PC data DOES NOT port over easily or without massive problems. Support for Quicken is a joke and a rouse to try and get 24.95 out of you for basic support.
I use Bank of America and their Quicken support is stumped by the broken features as it relates to the PC version. DO NOT buy this software unless you are under penalty of slow death. Intuit should be ashamed to offer this at a price twice that of a Windows version.97 of 115 people found this useful

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Do not buy
Written by CR from Bend

I have used quicken for PC for over a decade and switched to Quicken 2007 for mac. I have used it for a year and find it very painful. Every download of credit card and bank data results in errors and reconciling is very difficult. Even after a year I still have troubles. I am going to try something different. By the way, one star is the lowest rating that Apple will let you give a product.

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Intuit remains my best example of a bad company
Written by LH from Chicago
Nov 29, 2007
I wasn't planning to write a review, until I saw the one by "RH" that complained about the many one-star ratings and said "all programs are that way." They certainly are NOT! Then that reviewer, after complaining about the single stars, gave it 5 stars after himself indicating there were bugs that "eventually" got corrected in future updates for which he had to pay full priceagain.
I've used Quicken since first buying a computer about 15 years ago. It took little time to figure out how Intuit spreads out, over time, a few minimal smoke-and-mirror enhancements and then hypes every "upgrade" as a major step forward. They aren't "upgrades" if you have to buy the full program all over again.
Quicken does the minimal basics for me, but my history with Intuit over time makes me place it as my prime example of companies I hate. That is reasoned hate, not unjustified hate. One additional minor example (and there are many) is when they could not get my check order straight after numerous emails and even direct phone calls. Long after the problem was finally fixed and settled, here came another set of checks... duplicates. Combine the horrible service, the paucity of features and the company's business and marketing practices and you have a formula for one or two stars, not four or five.82 of 91 people found this useful

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Horrible, Horrible, Horrible
Written by HF from La Place
Mar 4, 2008
I became a member of the Mac family on January 4th 2008 and purchased Quicken 2007 at that time. I have used Quicken for years on Windows and was very satisfied with it. But, Quicken for Mac is a BOMB! So, I put Windows on a partitioned side of my iMac and used Quicken for Windows over there and it works. When I tried to get help from Quicken support, they said that they will not support me because I have Windows on my Mac hard drive and am using Quicken on that part of the hard drive. So, no support for Quicken for Mac. I guess they expected me to keep two computers until Quicken for Mac was resolved. NOT!
My advice, use Quicken for Windows under Windows on the partitioned side of your Mac and hope that someone comes up with a money management software for Mac. Only time will tell. I love my Mac but am disappointed in Quicken!83 of 94 people found this useful

Quicken 2007 for Mac
Better than I thought
Written by DP from Lake Mary
Feb 1, 2007
Well, after reading all the reviews, I found myself wondering if I should make the buy or not. Being used to the windows versions of Quicken, when into this with lower hopes due to the reviews. After purchasing and importing my Quicken 2005 for windows information (accounts) I was surpirsed. Of course the program is not doesn't look or feel like the windows version (but that is why I made the switch to mac in the first place!) it still has all the functionality that I use. Keeping track of my Checking, Savings, Credit Cards, and Profolio was a breeze. I am very statified with the program although it can be approved on just like any other application, it is still accomplishes everything that I use quicken for.
