    Won't stay put.

    • Written by from Springfield

These ear buds have good sound, but not great like some say. I know quality sound! The other problem with these is that they wont stay snug in my ears. I realize everyone has different ear shapes, but these have no "traction". If you want the best possible sound, they need to be snug in the ear or all you hear is treble.

Three stars for the decent sound.
Two stars for the fit and price.

    GREAT SOUND... when they work

    • Written by from Memphis

I love the Ear Pods shape and they are very comfortable but the big problem is that one of Ear Pods goes out meaning you are getting full volume on one side but on the other you could barley hear the music. So please find a way to prevent this from happening.

    Very painful :(

    • Written by from Wayland

They have great sound, but they hurt my ears! After reading other reviews I don't feel so bad. I thought it was just me. But really, the shape is so awkward, the cartilage in my ears hurt so bad I can't wear them more than a minute. Not enjoyable at all.

    Worst earphones EVER!

    • Written by from Scarborough

I bought these earphones because of all the positive reviews people have left for this product, but after testing them out for myself, I just realized that I made a big mistake! These earphones are TERRIBLE! They are so uncomfortable and awkward! The bass is very good, and the overall sound quality is amazing, but the actual earphones are not. I listened to one song on a decent volume level, and I immediately got a painful headache! Who came up with the design for these earphones? They are shaped so weirdly that they fit so awkwardly in my ears. The bass is so clear that it literally feels like the music is trapped in my ears and spilling into my brain! I couldn't even listen to a few songs because of the terrible headache I got after using these earphones. What a waste of money. What happened to the simple white earphones that came with the older iPod generations? Those were simple and shaped properly. They were round and simple, and the bass wasn't so strong that your ear drums felt like they were under attack. I fear that these earphones could actually cause damage to people's hearing. I warn you not to buy these, get something else!

    Low to mid range headphone

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I've been using Apple earphones since iPhone 3GS and I have had a same experience with all of them. They start to be good when you have them out of box and use them for a few months. After that, they all start losing quality in noise and lower the sound they give out. Usually after 6months you find yourself buying a new one. The price for it is not cheap and it's overpriced for such quality, there are better earphones you can get with the same price range that work for you longer. I'm So disappointed by such wuality coming out of Apple production line especially after they aquired Beats. I was expectinn a better headphone quality for iPhone 6 series but it never happened.

If you're planning to get one of these, just don't do it, it doesn't worth it unless you're one those who need to own everything Apple produces.

    They don't last

    • Written by from Montreal

These EarPods sound great but they don't last. My 3rd pair in 18 months just died on me for absolutely zero reason. The remote stops working, the cord gets loose, an ear stops working. That just never ends. It just seems like a scam to get 40$ every 6 months. Really frustrating.

    Not Worth Buying

    • Written by from Roseville

In 2013 I got the Iphone 5 and was in LOVE with the headphones. A little over a year later the left headphone blew out and I was devasted because the sound quality was amazing besides the fact that they didn't fit my ears. Then this summer I got the 5s and was very excited to finally get a new pair of headphones, it's been about six months now that I've had it and the left headphone has blown out again, the side speaker on it still works but the main speaker is gone. I'm very disapointed in Apple's quality of them. Won't be buying another pair; why have great sounding music if you can't even hear it?

    Leap backwards.

    • Written by from Billund

I just got the new iPhone 6, and with it came these new headphones. I was looking forward to a new pair since the microphone no longer works in my old set, due to lack of proper treatment. I don't really know how to feel about the new design of the EarPods. I need cover for them in order for them to sit in my ear, but that was the same case with the old ones. However I was surprised and honestly a bit sad to find out that the sound quality had dropped. The sound is metallic and does not provide the same feel of depth as my old set does. It feels as if I am using a 3 $ headset.
Not the standard I was expecting from Apple with this product.

    Great sound BUT extremely uncomfortable

    • Written by from Cheboygan

The earpods have great sound. They sound much better than the old ones. I got a pair to come with my iPod. However, after only 20 minutes of wearing them my ears hurt so bad and I started getting a headache. At first I thought it was because the sound was so good that maybe I had it too high. But after testing them with no sound at all, I found out it was the earpods themselves. The shape stays in my ear great, better than any other earbuds I've ever used. However, they are so uncomfortable, I only use them when I have absolutely no other pair of earbuds. I feel like the earpods are made for people with bigger ear canals. If you're like me and don't have gigantic ear canals, then be prepared, because it might hurt. Also, I've had mine for about a year and they have not broken like a lot of people are saying, but like I said, I rarely use them.

    Good sound, terrible quality/value

    • Written by from Traverse City

While the sound of these headphones is really good for earbuds, the actual product's durability/lifespan is TERRIBLE. I got my first pair when it came with my iPhone 5. They worked well for almost a year, when the left earbud stopped working. I went out and bought another pair, which lasted roughly 6 months until again: the left earbud stopped producing sound. After that I used a cheap pair of Sony earbuds (which still work after 2+ years). Then my dad got the iPhone 6, and gave me the headphones that came with it. I've been using them for a little over a month, and today the left earbud stopped working. I will NOT be buying these again, no matter how good the sound is for the few short months that they work. I've already gone through 3 pairs in less than 2 years.

Over 2 years I have bought two sets of these earpods. Each pod has 2 speakers one at the side and a main one. the main one went bad on both sets. This is the third time I am getting a replacement. They sound fantastic for the price BUT, they don't last long..

    So much for bedtime listening...

    • Written by from Hungry Horse

It has a clear sound, sure, but the bass was so overwhelming that it hurt my ears and ruined my favorite bedtime music. I am seriously upset about this change. The earbuds that came with my iPod Touch 5 were perfect, but then they broke, thus I accidentally wasted money on this...

    Didn't last long

    • Written by from Kamrar

I had these headphones for about a year. Used them almost daily, mainly with my phone and computer. After about 4 months they started to get staticky and shocked me on multiple occasions. I kept using them because they were so expensive, and eventually the stopped. Recently the left right headphone has died completely. Considering that I bought these when the price was closer to $40, I really don't appreciate them dieing after such a short time.

I really like the built in remote, especially using my phone so I don't have to dig it out to change something, but they broke so fast that they weren't worth the price

    Great while they work

    • Written by from Lakewood

I bought these about 6 months ago. I don't do any heavy listening; nothing loud, and only during my 9-5 shift. Up until last week, they were great. The style and shape took a little getting used to, but the sound was amazing. Now, the left earbud has decided to stop working, not completely but the sound quality is so miniscule I can hardly hear it. I feel like I've wasted $30. I've had $10 headphones last years, but for something so (relatively) expensive to not last even a year is pretty shoddy. I can't say I'm happy with the purchase.

    Good Sound. Poor Fit.

    • Written by from Riverside

I have owned these headphones a total of 24 hours and I've already got earaches in both ears and the beginnings of a blister in my right one.

I am a big fan of Mac technology. And with the last many pairs of the old style Mac headphones I've never been disappointed. The quality with the actual headphones has improved if anything from the old ones. I'm really impressed by the sound (I'm an amateur and I can tell the difference) and the improved input mic that diminishes background noise (a HUGE bonus since I use headphones as my hands-free device). However they are very, VERY uncomfortable to wear.

Even for all their improvements, I'm already averse to using them because they hurt. I've also noticed that they feel like they might pop out if I don't put them in exactly the right way.

I know that Apple products have a history of having to use items "just the right way" (the original iphone mic problem anyone?), but this product isn't well suited for general audiences. It's not convenient to have to constantly readjust the buds to stop your eyes from tearing up from the pain.

I've noticed that several of the reviewers who had issues with this product were women. Being also of the female gender and having smaller ears. I'm thinking that Mac didn't include women in their calculations when they made the bold claim that the new design made the EarPods "...more comfortable for more people than any other earbud-style headphone."

    It's just simply not true.

For the quality, I think these headphones are great for $30. That being said, I'd trade them in a heartbeat for any leading competitor brand that offered gel pads or cushions.

Mac, please make these headphones more comfortable. I know that you can do better with your designs.
