    USB cable

    • Written by from Norfolk

I have been an APPLE customer for the past 3 years and have been pleased with both my mini iPad and iPhone.
However, this lightning to USB cable is a real disappointment. The end for the lighting plug to the device is of poor quality and has begun to fray and bend and will need to be replaced. These cables should last as long as the device to be charged is being used by the customer.
Poor quality which is not a good representation of an APPLE product.

considering android due to the lightning cable

    • Written by from River Grove

I've had iPhone's since Iphone 3. Never has there been a worse cable problem than now. I've bought 3 lightning cables from the apple store and multiple other cables in the past 1.5 years of having the iphone 5s. These cables break, scrunch up, intermittenly stop working, have poorly graded material for the cost, and are simply a headache. Unless apple does something about this, I will unfortunately be switching to a non-apple phone. Com'on apple. You can do better than this.

    Could be better

Charger works fine but these newer cords can't hold a candle to the reliability of the older 30 pin cords. But I've never had a problem walking into an Apple store and getting a free replacement. Still, it shouldn't be that way. Get it together, Apple.

    4th charger just broke.

    • Written by from Woodbridge

I have a iPhone 6Plus and I've been using the charger for about 7 months now. Recently I had to get it replaced, the second one broke when i plugged it in my phone. So I had to get another one and that one stopped working after three days. Just now my fourth one has stopped charging? I wish I can get a WORKING charger soon.

I've been through FOUR charging cables..just the cables in the 2 years I've had my iphone 5! I don't understand why they become so fragile its not like I'm bending them up or twisting them extravagantly. I'm really planning on switching to Android when my plan is up in June, I love my iphone but I don't want to have to replace my charger a million times....

    Bring back my Samsung

    • Written by from Bremerton

I love my IPhone 5s when I can charge it. I've been through 3 charger cords this year. My previous phone was Samsung, which was a good phone but too much plastic. I had one charger for the entire two years without any trouble. I'm on the way towards spending 120 bucks for Apple chargers this year. My plan is to put that money towards a new ,all metal, Samsung phone. Oh and I won't have to deal with ITunes, but that's a different story.

I don't understand all the 1 star reviews about these cables breaking.
I have one in my car that is used multple times a day with my iPhone 5S
I have another near my computer for syncing.
I have a third on the kitchen counter for nightly charging.

No problem with any of them, even after 1-1/2 years of use.

Dangerous. Fire OEM lightening cable with my iPhone 6 Plus

Sunday night I smelled something burning. My OEM lightening cable that came with my iPhone 6 Plus caught fire. Good thing I wasn't asleep or my house may have caught fire. Very upset!

    Monopolizing the iPhone charger market

    • Written by from Greensboro

My wife and I have gone through numerous charger cords I know why you don't change your charger cord. you want people to have to buy your terrible designed cords that break and lose their charge after so long. my wife purchased another brand that suppose to charge iPhones but, the charge was very slow. I have friends who have Samsung and LG phones and to my knowledge they don't have this problems with theirs. so like I said I know why you don't change your design but, if you want to keep customers please design a better cord that won't tear apart and kink very easily.

    Smoke coming from cable

    • Written by from Overland Park

I'm using the cable that came with my iPhone 5s, and it isn't very durable. Cable is scrunched up near the lightning connector (and I'm careful with it!), and today while it was plugged in to my car, I noticed that the cable started smoking. That seems dangerous! Surprised at such poor quality from Apple.

Gone through two already and am going to need a third. With the 5th gen IPod touch this and the battery life is the disappointing part.

This cable breaks almost every year on me which is lucky compared to the many others. At $19 a replacement Apple really does know how to make them.

They bend on the edges and stop charging randomly.

I can not tell you the number of Lightning my family goes through. They do not last, break too easily. We have a family charging station where I forbid anyone from removing the cables. It seems that every other month one of the cables stops working. This is ridiculous! My husband and I are joking that Apple must put a self destruct chip in them so we need to buy new ones every two to three months. I love my iPhone, I'm to the point to moving on if I can't find a solution for reliable charging.

The quality of iPhone chargers is absolutely terrible, they're so cheap. I've been through several chargers and none have even lasted a year. They only last a few months and then stop working. I really hope Apple does something about the terrible quality soon. I thought Apple was better than this but they clearly aren't.

    Junk - zero stars

    • Written by from Mexico City

These either break off at the lightning end, or just stop working. Been through three cables already (with normal use). Last one didn't last three months. As if they were inexpensive, or as if apple would allow other manufacturers to build and sell their own. It's infurating.

    Cord is not durable

    • Written by from Woodville

I am very disappointed with this product because it is not durable at all and doesn't last long. I just recently ordered my second replacement cord because the first two cords I had stopped working. I had to wiggle them around and sometimes hold them at a certain angle in order for them to work for a few moments. Apple should make this product more durable because the cords should last longer than a few months. This is very frustrating!

    Cable Frays

    • Written by from Plymouth

I've been careful to take good care of my lightning cable but it has badly yellowed, the ends have scrunched up, and now it is beginning to fray. A similar thing happened to my Macbook charger and it stopped working; it's very disappointing that these extremely expensive cables don't last!

    Very Great Charger

    • Written by from New Braunfels

I don't see why people have problems with their chargers becoming "scrunched," because I don't. I've discovered if you don't have the charger against your chest while plugged into your phone, forcing the weight down on it, it doesn't "scrunch." A company like Apple does not make a cheap charger. What matters is taking great care of your things and they will last. I've had the same iPad lightning charger that came in the box for almost a year now and the only thing wrong with it is the discoloration from dirt it has gathered. These are great chargers to have and I'm glad I have two.
