    unacceptably poor quality

    Cord to wife's 4 month old 6 Plus has already stopped working. It was gently used about every other day so the problem isn't due to wear and tear. Looking at all the recent reviews, Apple has some serious quality control issues with this cord or the design wasn't properly thought through.

    Great cable.

    Apple cables are well designed for normal use. I'm baffled as to why so many people have trouble with cables falling apart. I'm been using apple cables for close to ten years and I have not once had one fail. I still have my original 30 pin cable that I got with my first iPod, it still works with my iPad2.

    The new Lightning connector is a huge improvement over the 30 pin connector. Use your cable wisely (pull on the connector, not the cable) and you won't have any trouble with it. I'll only buy Apple cables, they last years with normal daily use.

    ~ apple needss too makee the chargers stronger . i have had 3 iPhones going on 4 and i have been through all of the apple chargers . Tge material isn't strong enough im a teenager so a throw it down and carry it around alot . Apple needs to change

    Cheap and terrible!

    I'm on my second cord in less than three months after buying my iPhone 6 Plus. I keep encountering the same problem: the cord bunches up at the end from overheating and exposes the cords underneath and it stops working. It's already time for a third cord after the second only lasted for five weeks.

    I'm getting a new phone in two weeks and I am really debating on if it will be worth my sanity to get an iPhone 6 because of the lightning charger. I've had my iPhone 5 for 2 1/2 years and I've gone through 4 official Apple brand lightning chargers and countless cheap chargers bought online. It is beyond ridiculously how easily these chargers break. I can go 3-4 months with a charger before it just stops charging my phone. And it's not like the cheap "non-official" chargers are any better. Bought one literally a month ago and it stopped working just the other day. It is very frustrating to the stupid notice that says "this accessory is not compatible." Apple needs to do something about these chargers. It makes no sense to have to pay $20 every couple of months for a new charger. I guess it's time to switch phone brands until Apple can release a better quality product.

    Zero Stars if i could

    These cables break down over time (<2 years). We have 3 of these lightning cables at home used between 2 iPhone 5s, and all 3 cables have now damaged wires at the end that connects to the phone. Two remain at our night stands for overnight charging, while the 3rd stays in the car for listening to music.

    Haven't had a problem with mine!

    I'm starting to order if there is 1500 paid Samsung "fake posters" out there.

    In our house we have an iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, 2 iPad Minis, and an iPad Air 2 all bought back in the fall when they released the new products. He cords that came with our devices all still work fine, wih no visible signs of damage. Also in both my wife and my car we have dual use chargers with two lighting cables from when we had our iPhone 5s, those cables are two years old and they work just fine as well.

    Apple's Worst Product

    I've gone through 2 of these in 1 year while owning an iphone 5. Apple replaced this cable once, which was free under warranty, but the 2nd one is nearing uselessness. Non-apple cables/chargers stop working after only a few months too. It's really a major pain-point in the mobile Apple universe.

    Horrible

    I purchased a spare "Apple Original" lightening cord, once out of the box it has never been moved from the same outlet nor ever crimped or bunched up. I now get a "This accesory may not be supported" message and the phone will not charge. I have tried numerous outlets and nothing seems to work. Apple PLEASE fix your product before someone starts a class action! At $20 a cord, I EXPECT it to last LONGER than 5 months! Love all my other Apple products except for this..

    Disposable.

    These cables have a reputation of starting to deteriorate almost immediately, and Apple has added 3rd party cable incompatibility if you have thoughts of more affordable alternatives. Don't try fixing breaks in the outer insulation with electrical tape. This type of rubber actually dissolves when it comes into contact with the glue from electrical tape! When your cable is new, coat the area where the cable meets the lightening plug with a heavy coat of "Shoe Goo" (a one inch section) and let it dry completely before use. This trick will give you more acceptable durability, while avoiding having to shell out another $20 in three months time.

    Breaks down with normal use after a year.

    The cord bunches up near the lightning connector end and eventually stops working. I have asked apple to replace it twice and there is no improvement in the product. Plan on the cable not lasting for more than about a year.

    Very Poor Quality

    I have bought 4 cables already in just 1 year, and they all have broken at the end. They're not cheap wires (at least at my local store), so It just kept me thinking... how much more am I going to spend on my iPhone? I love me iPhone6, but my pocket do has a bottom.

    Apple, why are you making these kind of cheap quality cables for your best products like iphones? Broke at the end of the cable exactly after 1 year. I dont see a 0 star thats why i put 1 star.

    I am now on my 4th cable in less then a year, and because I have the Lifeproof case, the only cable that fits is the OEM apple one which is very expensive since it only last 2 months top! Apple needs to fix this, they already make a fortune off of us, put some quality into your wires!

    It just doesn't work

    Bought a brand new official Apple Lightning Cable, because I'd been having problems with overheating and the "genius" at the Apple Store insisted I switch to an official Apple brand cable. I took it out of the box, plugged it in and got no response from my cable. After some wiggling, a box finally popped up to let me know that "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone." But... I paid $20 for an OFFICIAL APPLE LIGHTNING CABLE. So now I get to go back to the store and exchange it! Goody!

    Lasted 1 year with heavy use

    My first cable lasted 6 months with fairly heavy use. I am more careful not to bend, twist, or pull on it too aggressively. Could/should be more durable.

    my ipad2 cable, my iPod 4th gen cable and now my iPad Air cable, all frayed from the same spot. This indicates a major design flaw. I use these devices very frequently, as I travel a lot and this low life expectancy is hurting me. Apple, please do something about this..and soon

    Poorly made

    Every apple charger I've ever had for an iPod or iPhone has either; 1) Gotten a shortage forcing me to move the cable around to where it will finally charge or 2) somehow tears open exposing the wire within.

    Caught on fire

    Plugged the fully functional lightning cable into a portable charger that I have used time and time again, and a hole was burned through the cable and it caught on fire. This is now the second cable I have had that has either stopped working or burned up. Not a good cable at all.

    Horrible design

    These cables are just horrible. The insulation at the lightning end flex and eventually break in a matter of a few months. In a family with everybody using ipads and iphones you have to buy cables all the time. This is probably the worst designed apple product in recent times. Astonishing they been selling these poor quality cables for so long. Its long overdue to come up with a better solution.
