    Go with the Smart Cover

    • Written by from Austin

I initially went with the Smart Case to make it easier to travel with my iPad, but that was a mistake. The Smart Case doesn't position the cover very well to make a stable stand. The cover also causes long vertical streaks on the screen that are difficult to remove.

    I don't recommend it.

It covers your iPad good and also looks fine but it has a terrible stand. It literally falls whenever you touch it and I mean that's the whole point in my eyes. I wouldn't buy it again.

    Ok but needs improvement

Nice case overall. Love the red. Love the magnetize feature. The bad thing about the case is it doesn't stand up that great. When you roll it back to make it stand, it falls backward a lot. So with that being the case, no pun intended, i would spend half the money on a case that allows the iPad to stand up better.

    Love it!!

    • Written by from Albuquerque

I have the same case in red, and have never needed anything else. I hesitated to get this case initially due to the price, but it has lasted me longer than I would have thought and even after about two years of use, it still looks great! I love the ability of tossing it in a backpack and not worrying about my iPad getting scuffed up, having full protection. The "hinge" issue that everyone seems to comment on has never been an issue of mine, it works fine and completely closes (effectively putting my iPad to sleep each time) just as the Smart Covers would. Very happy with this product.

    HORRIBLE case

    • Written by from acworth

What a fail in my opinion. I was excited that they put a back on it, and it has potential, but they made a mess of it. It's SUPER flimsy and bendy, and feels like it has the potential to get torn up in days. The inside is very soft, which I love, as is the outside... but then they added this 1/4" lip to the whole back, that feels SO rough on the hands it's like they forgot to finish it. The rest of the case is smooth, and then the edges feel like a hard plastic packaging that wasn't filed down. Awful to hold. I know they made the lip so that the cover would lay flush to the case, which I guess was to prevent if from flopping open, but all it does is make it difficult and annoying to get open, and the back just flops around when not in use. Terrible design. Stick with what you know, Apple. Throw this one in the dumper.

    Wonderful case, just one problem...

    • Written by from Lathrup Village

I love this case. I bought my iPad 2 over a year ago and have had no problems. It fits well, doesn't fall off, and closes easily. The only problem I've had is that recently, after over a year of using it, it's falling apart. The glue has dried up and my iPad constantly falls out and shifts. I had ZERO problems for over a year, but if you'r eloping for something that will last I would recommend buying one of the newer cases which were probably made to solve this problem.

    BUYER BEWARE! This case blows!

    • Written by from Millburn

I bought an iPad with Retina Display when they were first released (3rd Gen., already had a 2nd Gen.), from the website and ordered this case with it. I requested both case and iPad personalized, (very nice laser etch, by the way). I ordered black 64GB with Verizon but got 32GB with WiFi. Not happy. Personalized and unreturnable... I have kept it and it did what I asked of it. Connecting to my iPhone, same thing for the most part. But wanted to use iPad for video stream and GPS, keeping iPhone available. Only AT&T allows talk and use of data at the same time, in USA and I use Verizon. Because everyone that has it knows that AT&T really s*&ks!

About the case. I bought a Product Red version, personalized as I said.

    1. The case has never stayed properly shut. The magnets just don't keep it closed. It has gotten worse over the year that I have had it. Same problem as the Smart Cover, (I have a gray Smart Cover).

    2. Rolling into a stand was a cool idea. I was hoping that Apple had improved on the Smart Cover, whose magnetic hinge NEVER STAYED PUT. Well, new problems arose with the newer design. It wouldn't stand securely in the tall position and it would droop in the low position.

    3. The case started to fall apart within weeks. The bottom seam started to peal apart.

4.The material the case is made of seems to attract dirt. Cleaning it is no big deal, but come on.

    5. I have ended up using it as secondary protection, keeping the iPad with the Smart Case on in a separate zippered sleeve case. Which is exactly the opposite of what I wanted when I bought the Smart Case. A simple and elegant, integrated solution. It turned out to be anything but...

I will be buying an Apple iPad Mini Retina with Verizon service and 128GB, very soon. I won't be buying another Smart Case. LifeProof's NUUD seems to make more sense even though it's going to cost me more that twice as much... I don't really know why I care. I bought Apple Care as always, yet never have had to use it..

    Short on Durability

    • Written by from Saint Paul

After 18 months the seal that binds the top and bottom of my iPad Smart Case began to separate. I would expect that a fifty dollar case would longer with normal daily use.

Liked this case. I bought it in red, but it started to come apart after a year. Now my iPad slips through the bottom. Really upset about that.

    Very Disappointing!

    • Written by from Brick

I loved the case when I first purchased it in red, but it was short lived. Aside from the fact that it didn't quite fit as snug as it should have, it fell apart within such a short time. The lip that goes around the front of the iPad screen had become completely unglued from the back of the case. For this price, it should have at least lasted a tad bit longer. Not only do I deeply regret this purchase, but I should have held onto the receipt. What a waste.

Love the case but magnet stopped working

    • Written by from Columbus

I got this case in PINK when I got my iPad in August and had it specially engraved. I love the look and it has done very well with protecting my iPad, however, the cover has lost a ton of magnetic strength. It doesn't adhere to my iPad anymore so if I were to put it in my backpack it would flop all over. Now they don't even make the case in pink anymore some I'm looking for an alternative. Sad day... :(

    I like this case

    • Written by from Flint

I purchased two cases on clearance in red and blue got a good deal. It fits good, light in weight compared to my other cases, and it is not bulky. I also have a Smart Cover, but I like the case better. My only complaint is that the edges makes it uncomfortable to hold. To open it, I just hold it face down and the cover comes loose. To keep it clean I put it in a sleeve. I would recommend that people try it out for themselves. Everyone's opinion/experience with a product, as you have noticed, is different.

This case is awesome, I don't know why the people is uncomfortable. It protects all the corners when the iPad falls down, it really beautiful. And the best of all is when you find this case in only $15. I'm really happy to buy those cases.

    Good but affects wireless reception

    • Written by from Eureka

Had this for a couple of months. It is a very solid and ergonomic case. But I recently noticed that the cover, when opened and folded all the way around the back of the iPad seems to affect the wireless reception. Where there's a good solid signal it doesn't seem to matter much. But when the signal is marginal, folding the cover back in this manner causes a loos of two bars on the reception meter. It makes sense since it has metal around the edges of the cover. Still a pretty good case.

I've had my smart case for about 1 year. A little disappointed with the quality for the price. It's been slowly separating around the edges. I thought it would last longer.

    It was pretty good

I liked the style of the case, but I dropped my I pad mini on a corner and my case only covered the screen not the bottom so it cracked. I was very unhappy with myself. However I did like it and how it folded. The only thing I'm to crazy about is the price. I think its a bit to much. I plan on getting the iPad air for myself and getting a smart cover case that covers all of it and getting another case like a sleeve. I really don't want to crack it! Wish me luck!

    Inferior to the last version

    • Written by from Irvine

    Pros
    -Nice material
    -Fits extremely well
    -Reasonably protective

    Cons
-Stand viewing angle is too steep, steeper than the last version. Poking the screen while it's on the stand is easily enough to knock it over.
-Magnetic latch is not strong enough.
-3-folding design is inferior to the 4-folding design. It's far less secure as a stand. Not only is it easily knocked over, but the stand collapses easily as well.
-Also can't be used as a handle the way the last version was.
