    iPad Mini disaster

    • Written by from Bognor Regis

The expensive Apple smart case has gradually loosened to the stage where my son called me distraught to tell me his 128gb iPad mini had fallen out of the case and the screen is cracked and badly damaged .
Luckily the iPad still works fine but come on Apple this is an expensive gadget which I now need to get a screen replacement.
Why are you making such rubbish .
I nearly bought one for my iPad Air 2? Luckily I got a Twevle South Book Book one.
I'm getting one for his too after repair.

Solution for case becoming unglued at the seams

    • Written by from Annapolis

I put four staples into my ipad case, each staple as near as possible to the corners of the case, but not on the curves. The staples have to be put on the outer rim of the case, just outside of the magnetic rim that is inside the polyurethane. One staple per corner. Now my ipad doesn't fall out anymore.

    iPad case

    • Written by from Dartmouth

This case was great when I first got it. After a year it became very flimsy and could no longer use it as a stand. Then the glue around the edges started to let go and the iPad would just slide out. I wish I invest in a better quality case right away. Would definitely not reccomend.

    Don't buy APPLE CASES!

    • Written by from Honolulu

This was a total ripoff. Paid $49 for a case that outlasted the Ipad. The outside does not clean well, and the inner felt lining flakes off and piles like a cheap sweater.

    junk - do not buy

    • Written by from DPO

Like many other reviewers here, mine is falling apart after just barely over a year of moderate/low use, so the warranty is done. Glue on seams is coming apart, so the Ipad will not stay in the case and it moves around when trying to read or otherwise use the Ipad. Shame on Apple for selling this kind of cheap, poorly made junk, especially at that high price. It should last more than a year. Definitely will not buy another. If you have not bought one yet, don't waste your money.

    Fell apart

The glue that keeps it together gave out. For 50$ didn't expect it to fall apart so quickly. Designed in USA but definitely Made In China.

    • Written by from rock hill

i bought this case with my iPad 5 months back. I wish I had not. The ridges are all out of place then I came to find a sizable hole in the seam. I really liked this case at first but it almost cost me a cracked screen. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

    One word: terrible

    • Written by from Arlington

The case do not fits properly, do not stand easily (fall all the time). The borders hurt your hand when you hold for long.
Do not spend your money with this product (that doesn't deserve the apple logo)

Right out of the box this is a flimsy case and it just gets worse as time goes on. Mine is just a little over a year old and the seams have come completely apart. My iPad doesn't even see regular daily usage.

    iPad Smart Case falling apart

    • Written by from Sioux Falls

I've had the smart case for about 2 years. About 6 months ago the seam started splitting apart. Now it is apart on two and a half sides. BAD product quality. I know it wouldn't last for ever but using glue? Why not stitched? $50 is a lot to pay for something that only lasts 18 months on a $1000 iPad purchase! Shame Apple!

Design Flaw: Very uncomfortable to hold - edges too SHARP!

    • Written by from Aliso Viejo

If you're like me and you like to kick back on the bed or couch and surf the web or read emails, this product will hurt your hands. The edges are too sharp. Apple, you need to round the edges of this. I spend $55 on this and I want my money back! Let me buy it again once you repair this design flaw!

This product won't last. The concept is great, but unfortunately the products braks after use putting your iPad at risk. The sides of the case are glued to the frame the goes around the iPad and connects to the top cover. After use, the sides separate and the iPad can slip between this space. We bought three (3) of these Apple Smart Cases at my home, and all three of them have the issue. Do not recommend.

    Expensive and NOT durable

    • Written by from Topanga

For the price of this thing I expected it to not fall apart at the seams within 18 months of at home use. My iPad actually fell out of the case through the split in the seem and smashed the corner of the screen. I am very disappointed in this overpriced product .

    Falling Apart

    • Written by from Norfolk

I was pretty happy with the case when I first got it - snug fit, light, microfiber liner of the front cover was a plus. Only down side was the sharp, exposed seam, which isn't particularly pleasant for holding, and seemed like a possible locus for stress and failure. I should have seen it coming, but I had been very pleased with the Apple case I used on my iPad 1 for 2 1/2 years. Within 3-4 months that protruding seam started to separate and now at the 7 month point it has opened up along all 3 exposed edges and is on the verge of total failure.

This quality of this version is just pitiful and should be an embarrassment to the product designers at Apple. Did anyone do any testing before pushing it out the door?

    HORRIBLE case

    • Written by from acworth

What a fail in my opinion. I was excited that they put a back on it, and it has potential, but they made a mess of it. It's SUPER flimsy and bendy, and feels like it has the potential to get torn up in days. The inside is very soft, which I love, as is the outside... but then they added this 1/4" lip to the whole back, that feels SO rough on the hands it's like they forgot to finish it. The rest of the case is smooth, and then the edges feel like a hard plastic packaging that wasn't filed down. Awful to hold. I know they made the lip so that the cover would lay flush to the case, which I guess was to prevent if from flopping open, but all it does is make it difficult and annoying to get open, and the back just flops around when not in use. Terrible design. Stick with what you know, Apple. Throw this one in the dumper.

    BUYER BEWARE! This case blows!

    • Written by from Millburn

I bought an iPad with Retina Display when they were first released (3rd Gen., already had a 2nd Gen.), from the website and ordered this case with it. I requested both case and iPad personalized, (very nice laser etch, by the way). I ordered black 64GB with Verizon but got 32GB with WiFi. Not happy. Personalized and unreturnable... I have kept it and it did what I asked of it. Connecting to my iPhone, same thing for the most part. But wanted to use iPad for video stream and GPS, keeping iPhone available. Only AT&T allows talk and use of data at the same time, in USA and I use Verizon. Because everyone that has it knows that AT&T really s*&ks!

About the case. I bought a Product Red version, personalized as I said.

    1. The case has never stayed properly shut. The magnets just don't keep it closed. It has gotten worse over the year that I have had it. Same problem as the Smart Cover, (I have a gray Smart Cover).

    2. Rolling into a stand was a cool idea. I was hoping that Apple had improved on the Smart Cover, whose magnetic hinge NEVER STAYED PUT. Well, new problems arose with the newer design. It wouldn't stand securely in the tall position and it would droop in the low position.

    3. The case started to fall apart within weeks. The bottom seam started to peal apart.

4.The material the case is made of seems to attract dirt. Cleaning it is no big deal, but come on.

    5. I have ended up using it as secondary protection, keeping the iPad with the Smart Case on in a separate zippered sleeve case. Which is exactly the opposite of what I wanted when I bought the Smart Case. A simple and elegant, integrated solution. It turned out to be anything but...

I will be buying an Apple iPad Mini Retina with Verizon service and 128GB, very soon. I won't be buying another Smart Case. LifeProof's NUUD seems to make more sense even though it's going to cost me more that twice as much... I don't really know why I care. I bought Apple Care as always, yet never have had to use it..
