This thing looks great on the desk. I have had it for about 7 months now with no issues. The backup software is pretty good (using it with Windows 8) - seems extremely stable and reliable. Hopefully it keeps spinning for years to come.

I did not trust my 5 year old LaCie and 3 year old WD to secure all data and support reinstallation of all my programs and files after replacement of the hard drive on my i-Mac (thanks Apple for handling the recall so efficiently!).
Just to be sure I bought the P'9233 and had it run with my i-Mac for a while. Initial installation was a fast and painless. When my "empty" i-Mac was returned by Apple, I was prepared for the big test.
The reinstallation of all my data and functionality using Time Machine proved to be a wash! All files, e-mails, software, every dot and dash was flawlessly copied to my new hard drive within an hour. Thoroughly impressed!

    Performs as advertised

I love this drive. It's well built, and has awesome speeds with USB3. After having used it for a couple of months, I don't understand how I used to get along with the old USB2 speeds. I work with a lot of video content and it felt like it took forever to copy movie files through a 2.0 interface. One recent download (around 600MB) finished copying before I could find and start the stopwatch app on my iPhone..

This is my first experience with a LaCie drive. I bought it because of a colleague's recommendation. I'm currently using it with my MacBook Pro, and I couldn't be happier. It's fantastic! The speeds are good. The build quality is awesome. The drive is surprisingly quiet and runs cool too. Top marks for this one. I'm really impressed..

The drive is really well designed, and looks great on my desk. The performance is good too. No vibrations, totally silent, good transfer speeds. It was easy to connect to my MacBook and I use to for backups and for storing my music collection. Works perfectly what I need it for!

    Stylish hard drive

This is definitely a stylish hard drive with excellent build quality. Transfer rate is also very good. My time machine backup is way faster than using the time capsule. The only complain is that it will not start up or shut down when my Mac is starting or shutting down. The worst thing is when I restart my Mac, it doesn't detect the drive even I left the drive on. I Need to press the power button to turn the drive off and turn it back on. It's quite inconvenient.

I use one of these drives to back up my desktop machine. It took me about five minutes to set it up, and then it automatically started backing up my files. I leave it plugged in and it backs up every hour, powering itself down when it's not in use.

    Typical LaCie Drive

This is a great drive. The USB 3.0 was so much faster then my older USB 2.0 WD it replaced. I took four times longer to get the 500 GB from the WD with 2.0 to the LaCie drive then it did to copy to another duplicate LaCie, each with 3.0.

I only wish it had fire wire, but for the price, its a good deal for 2 TB.

I bought this drive to replace an old drive of mine that broke down. I bought it mostly for the additional space it offered, but was then impressed by the USB 3.0 interface, and the fact that it both wasn't as hot as my old unit when it ran and actually looked pretty good on the desk next to my machine.

    Not compatible with OS 10.8.2

Brought this drive home from the Apple store to use with Time Machine and an iMac using USB 2. Set it up using LaCie's proprietary software. Started the first backup, which is supposed to take longer (about 250 GB). After 10 hours, the software told me the backup would take 2,400 days to complete--I'm not exaggerating. Downloaded fresh drivers and desktop software for the drive from LaCie's Web site and reformatted the disk with Disk Utility. Same result, with throughout of about 16K/second, which is outrageous. Drive is going back to the store tomorrow.

Probably on of the best I have ever purchased. The only unknown is whether it will still be working in 3 years.

This is a high-quality drive, I love it. It looks great, feels great, is solidly built and works well – everything I wanted. I use it mainly to backup my data. It runs nice, cool, and quietly. It also has a power switch at the back, which I find very convenient.
