I'm a big fan of laptop "sleeves". They're compact, lightweight and provide adequate protection for my kinda work/lifestyle.
The problem with sleeves is that they lack a handle as you're expected to through the sleeve in a backpack, I don't.
Sleeves also lack a small pocket to carry essential items: headphones, USB cable, Ethernet or VGA adapter.
This Level8 case has it all. It's lightweight, [relatively] compact, has low-profile reinforced handle straps, and a small zip pocket for essentials. I'm *almost* in love with this case. The sleeves are non-intrusive and the pocket is flat when empty so you can still throw this sleeve in a backpack or carry it solo (safely, thanks to the handle).
What I absolutely hate about this case is that it certainly not made specifically for the 15" Retina MBP (or regular 15" MBP for that matter). It has a good 1" of extra space side-to-side and another 1" top-to-bottom.
I wish this case was a perfect fit (it is not), and I personally find Booq sleeves to provide a better fit. If Level8 remakes this case with correct dimensions, I'm all over it.
And not to mention other colors would be nice too.
I recently got a 15 inch mac book pro with retina display and I needed protection asap! so I went to the apple store and looked around. It was between this one and an incase branded one. This one seemed a lot more sturdy and very well made. the material look and feel like they are going to last long. The material inside is just perfect! It has these hard, yet smooth and silky bumps inside that protect the laptop from damage. I even asked one of the apple employees and he said that this was a very good sleeve that provided a lot of protection. Most of the other sleeves and cases I saw were flimsy and didn't seem like they would provide protection. Specially when you spend so much on a mac, you need great protection. at 50$ and compared to others that were at a much higher price, this one is the best one I could find. I own a foam sleeve for my macbook pro 13 inch, and it protects it from scratches but not really for drops. and i got that for around 30$. Another plus on this is the handles. It makes it easier to carry around and very comfortable. Theres a front pocket where I can place my charger or iPad or even a notebook for school. All in all this a great case compared to the others at the apple store and apple.com, a lot of the other cases are more for "looks" rather than protection. and this has a 5 year warranty! so another reason to buy it. NOTICE: this was meant for the 15 inch macbook pro and not the 15 inch retina pro so it is not a snug fit. but the retina 15 inch pro has no moving parts so you'll be fine. I'm happy to know that my macbook is protected! So i recommend this if you are reading this!
