Apple should be ashamed to sell this pile of garbage

    • Written by from Phoenix

I wanted a professional app for video that I could use in place of VLC. I bought this program thinking that, since it was from Apple, it would be great as are all of their other products. But I'm very sorry to say that it's a pile of junk. Just about every video file that I open with QT7 causes a message to pop up telling me that the audio can't be decoded and that I need to go to the QT site to download. But once I get there, the trail goes cold. I can't return it because I downloaded it online. So, all I can do is forget that ever bought it and never buy another piece of software from Apple electronically again (that's gonna be hard). This wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't such an Apple fan. Steve Jobs, if you could only see what the people in charge are doing to your legacy.

    FREE TRIAL

    • Written by from Kissimmee

I think Apple needs to offer a FREE TRIAL of their software products like Adobe and Microsoft! I think the price is okay, but most people do not realize what QuickTime is capable of ESPECIALLY when it comes to video creation, editing etc...so people who do not know what it is capable of can try it for free then when they realize how awesome it is...they will keep the trial. Do like the others do, get all the information, (have customer register) put cc information etc most of the time people will keep using it when the trial is over.

So GET WITH THE TIMES APPLE! Everyone knows you offer great products, but sometimes we want to try it out first before we make the financial investment; little or big. Just a thought

    Laggy Player, Poor UX

    • Written by from San luis obispo

I bought the PRO version so I can correct the annoying gamma shifts that happens when encoding to h264. I am using a high end machine and using the Quicktime player has just been an annoying experience since the player generally feels laggy as I scrub through HD video. Manipulating settings in the movie properties panel is supposed to update in real time but it just lags and gives me an overall poor user experience.

If you want an excellent movie player, go with VLC.

Won't open old QuickTime (Mac) files

    • Written by from Hewitt

I have a large number of old (circa 1995-1999) QuickTime files (Apple photo JPEG, 320 x 240 format) that the Windows version refuses to open. It just gives the message "Error -2048: Couldn't open the file becaue it is not a file that QuickTime understands."
Even though the Windows version won't open them, they run fine on QuickTime Player 7.5 for Mac.

    excellent

    • Written by from Forest Lake

i use this program for all of my college work... compiling jpg files into a movie, editing clips exported from maya together... not only does it let me control frame rate and effects, but i also edited sequences and can open/export in any professionally used format. Not sure why all the negative reviews, i find this program extremely usefull.

    It doesn't work at all

    • Written by from Shepherdsville

I bought this to convert a sequence of jpg images into a video file using the "Open image sequence" command. It just doesn't do anything. I can select the file and then NOTHING. Searched all over for answers, couldn't find any. Complete waste of $30.

AVI to MOV conversion very poor quality

    • Written by from Morro Bay

I purchased Quicktime Pro for Windows for the sole purpose of converting avi to mov format. I have nice 720 x480 Canon DV avi converted to MS DVI which plays a good quality image in Microsoft Media Player. It plays at about 1/2 resolution when loaded into Quicktime and the export to MOV file has similar poor quality. This is not the same as the Mac version which has a number of parameter adjustments I just can't find. I'm an engineer who has worked with many video products and this doesn't even do basic conversion. How do I get my money back?

    I want my money back!

    • Written by from APO

I purchased QT Pro to rotate videos that were shot sideways. I managed to rotate the images which now ballooned in file size and tried to continue working on the righted videos in Roxio (which could not rotate them unless you went thru four different steps and still had problems) to find the videos after being turned in QT Pro were now again sideways. I feel this should be stated in the descriiption and that the final product can only be seen in QT. I had planned on sharing these family videos with family and they may not want to use this software. I want my money back but of course one of the things you lose when buying software online is customers rights to return a product for purchase price if you are unsatisfied with it.
    Signed: Disgusted with Quicktime Pro

    Biggest Waste of Money ever!
It doesn't do anything special that any other free program can do. I had a hard time converting my video files and gave up. Not worth a cent! And now, I cannot even recover my lost registration key because the site cannot direct me to the page! Good Job Apple!
