This product uses USB to connect to the computer, our setup below requires the use of a headphone jack.
We have a Mac Pro computer purchased on 12th. April 2009 (W89267582) and a Windows XP Pro PC. These are to both be connected to an NEC LCD3090WQXI 30 in. Monitor using a Gefen 2x1 DVI KVM DL Switcher.
This Switcher will also enable us to utilise our existing USB Mac keyboard with a USB Mac mouse, to access both the Mac Pro computer and the Windows XP Pro PC.
With the use of a Gefen TV Digital to Analog Decoder, the audio from both computers can be switched using output from their headphone jacks.
To accommodate the switching of the Gefen, can the Focal XS Speakers and Subwoofer be connected using the headphone jacks?
Failing this what high end speaker setup would you recommend?- Asked by Brian R

Best AnswerOne point to consider - If you use the headphone jack, you will be using your computer's DAC instead of the audiophile-grade DAC built into the subwoofer. Accordingly, It would be best to hook to each computer using USB - perhaps a splitter or some kind of hub will do the trick.

Are the Focal XS Satellite Speakers compatitable with the iPhone 5?
- Asked by Beth P from Tacoma
- Sep 22, 2012
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerBecause the Iphone 5 uses a smaller connector then the previous models you won't be able to plug the phone to the dock on the focal speakers, but if you buy the $29 adapter you will be able to use the dock on the speakers. On saying all this you can use the 3.5 mm connector from the focal speakers and plug it into the Iphone's headphone connection

I like a fair amount of bass in my music (typically listen to electronica/dance/techno-as-it-were). Is this set-up going to provide good low-end?
Wondering if anyone can provide a testament that this sub-woofer suits low-end enthusiasts like me? Otherwise I am sold on the looks and quality of this set up.

Best AnswerThe Focal XS set up reproduces low end frequencies very well and maintains fidelity without any noticeable distorsion, ( including CDs brought in to iTunes, using iTunes MP3 sampling defaults). With base-orineted music, such as Techno or House, the sub-woofer comes to life and keeps up with large amounts of air displacement, again with no apparent distorsion. I have had my Focal XS on an iMac 24 for about two months now and I continue to be amazed by the overall sound quality

will Focal XS run on 220 Volt power?
I am considering buy these buy live in South Korea. The power in Korea runs on 220V versus 110 in North America. Before I purchase these, I would like to know if they will run without using a power converter. Are they dual voltage?

Answeryes, quite easily. depending on the distance from the wallwart/transmitter, you may want to buy a stereo mini (headphone jack style) male with RCA female end adapter to hook up to the stock white apple adapter as that is quite short
