Do the magnets in the cover compromise the iPad Mini's performance? I heard you are not suppose to attach magnets to computers.

AnswerNo, they will not harm the performance of the iPad in any way.
The reason you should not use high-strength magnets around computers is specifically because of the storage medium: the hard drive (and legacy, floppy disks). These drives use electromagnets to polarize small sections of the disk when storing data. Bringing a large magnet around a disk drive could possibly change/modify those areas of memory, corrupting them.
The iPad (as well as the MacBook Air and some MacBook Pros) use a different type of drive, called a solid State disk (SSD). These use a process that doesn't use magnetic medium, so have a magnet close to it will not in any way harm your data.
I would, though, not suggest dropping a magnet on your iPad.- Answered by Rick K from Bloomsbury

Answer
Not much of a protective cover because it can easily get unattached from the right side (not closed)and also from the left and it doesn't protect the back of the iPad mini

does the smart cover scratch iPad on the part where magnet connects?
Does the magnets on the cover where it connects to the iPad scratch the side of it?

AnswerIt won't scratch the iPad where the cover contacts it. There are no hard and sharp materials that could make contact with the ipad.

Will the cover attach to either side of the iPad mini? I'd like to set the mini in landscape mode with the left side of the screen down.
All the pictures show the cover attached on the right side of the iPad mini and unfortunately my tv streaming app would be upside down if I couldn't attach this cover on the other side of the mini and fold it as a stand. Trying to see if that is possible or not.

AnswerNo, because the magnetic connection that specifically holds the smart cover is only on one side the iPad, not on both sides of the iPad.
