Best Answerthe microphone is on the volume up/down switch, its not exposed like the old pair to prevent damage. To test it open up Voice recorder or any other app using the microphone and talk into it.

AnswerYes, when any headphone with a mic is plugged in, the default mic is switched to the in-line headphone mic. Hope this helps.

Insurance/Warranty?
I'm planning on buying these earbuds. However, with my previous experience with Apple's headphones, it doesn't take long for them to stop working. Luckily for me I could always go back to the store and replace it thanks to my AppleCare contract. However, that contract is now used up and have no additional warranty for the headphones. Say if I buy the headphones and they become defective (by themselves, no damage caused by me at all), when is the latest I can get an exchange for the headphones? Also is there an AppleCare contract for the headphones alone?

Best AnswerNo, the earpods will not fit with the iPod Shuffle 3. I have the earpod and iPod Shuffle 3 and the remote of the earpod don't work.

Best AnswerThe EarPods only reproduce audio with the iPod shuffle 3rd gen, the in-line controls don't work at all.
The Apple Store page is correct to leave it out, but in the EarPods manual it wrongly says they do work. Sound only.- Answered by Nick D

I have a pre-2009 2GB iPod classic. I have been told by one person that the new Apple earbuds will not work with it, and by another person that they will but the remote option will not be available. Which, if either, is correct?

AnswerThe second statement, you can hear audio, but unless its the 7th gen/ 2009 classic the remote will NOT work.
