Questions & Answers for iPad Smart Case - Polyurethane - Dark Gray

Couldn't hurt. My iPad cost $699, so I certainly saw no harm in buying a case, screen protector and AppleCare for it.

Check around for dry-application screen protectors. We looked everywhere before we found some good ones at (gulp) WalMart.

Yes, the case is compatible with the 3rd gen iPad and the 4th gen iPad, which both have the retina display. And yes, the automatic sleep/wake works with the retina display.

Smart case is rubber on back and front. cover is rubber or leather on front. smart cover was made for a more design friendly cover with very nice colors. the smart case was built to be able to have a similar design with more protection.

I love the Smart Case. I've had it for over 6 months now and it has held up well. The polyurethane surface has a nice, almost suede-like feel, so it does prevent slipping when you hold it.

No, the regular iPad Case is a lot bigger than the iPad Mini. There are Smart Covers specifically for the iPad Mini, but no cases so far.

All Smart Cover and Case works well on iPad with Retina Display (iPad 4), and it will fit the lightning connector. I say Yes. It says "This accessory is compatible with: iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad 4

A magnet is in the lip of the fold furthest from the hinge. When that magnet comes over the right most edge of the iPad, the iPad senses the magnet and takes action, dimming the screen and executing the lock function if you are set to do so. Very smooth, elegant operation.

I give my case a quick snap of the wrist of the hand that holds my ipad from the right side; flipping the hinged tri fold lid up. The lid unrolls and flips into place and shuts off the screen in a ½ second rotate, expand and close action. A brisk 'snap-flap' action. (the ninja lid :-)

With the ipad mini, you can only have the Smart Cover, which only covers the front. That will show the engraving on the back. The iPad mini does not have a Smart Case. Yet.
