What is the benefit of using the headphone jack in the guitar vs. the one out of my iPad?
It seems like there would be a greater chance for a delay to relay the info from the guitar to the iPad, process it through whatever amps and effects, then back to the guitar and then out to the headphones. As opposed to guitar, to iPad, to headphones right? What's the point of the headphone jack out of the guitar?

AnswerI have used both and I can tell you there's no delay whatsoever to ruin the experience. They're equally good.
I guess there is no delay because the guitar uses digital signals to send and receive the sound = USB out > iPad > USB in > Guitar headphone. The digital signal on cable is so fast there is at least virtually no delay.
The only delays I have experienced so far were using bluetooth speakers and Apple TV on wireless.
Using the headphone plug of the guitar offers the advantage of having less cables crossing over and having to stand right on top of your iPad or Mac. It's much more comfortable to move around and tidier.- Answered by Paulo N

The spec says bi-directional usb. How is sending audio back to the guitar utilized?
From the spec: "Type Mini-B USB connector offering bi-directional audio streaming"
- Asked by James C from Chicago

AnswerHi James,
The guitar signal is sent to the iOS device or Mac. The audio is then being processed by an app like GarageBand, AmpliTube etc. and send back to the guitar via the same cable that connects the guitar to the device. The audio then goes into the headphone amp and comes out through the 1/8" output. The headphone amp volume can be controlled by one of the control pots on the guitar itself. This means that the headphones can plug right into the guitar to monitor your backing tracks and processed guitar tone. Only one cable goes to the iOS device or Mac.

can anyone speak to the playability and setup out of the box?
- Asked by Stephen E from Lincoln University

AnswerI needed to adjust the intonation, but not by much. There's some fret-buzz on the lower two strings, heaviest in the lower E. Haven't set that up yet. Pickups were set low and I brought the bridge one up a bit, which worked for me.
It's very nice to play. The action is about right and I love the neck, which is easy to get around for someone with medium-to-small hands.
With the exception of the flimsy USB jacks and socket, it's a very likeable guitar.- Answered by Paul M

Can the Squire Strat access all sounds in Garageband?
Hi there
Can this guitar access all the instruments in Garageband (ie directly play piano or saxophone from the guitar) or can I only record the guitar sound from the USB output?- Asked by John W from Wellington
- Dec 21, 2012

AnswerNo, this is not a MIDI guitar. This is a real guitar which was simply given the mini-USB feature to digitalise the sounds you play into a device like an iPad, iPhone or Mac.
You can choose from an excellent range of amps in Garageband, when selecting the Amp instrument at the beginning (or as new track), and add lots of customisable effects through virtual FX pedals.
I don't think there is a point of using a guitar to control synths and other instruments anyway. You're better off buying yourself a MIDI keyboard controller. I use both and sometimes the on-screen keyboard instrument of the iPad too.- Answered by Paulo N

Can I Airplay what I'm playing on the guitar to my Apple TV?
When I am using the guitar and the garage band app on my iphone or ipad, it gives me an airplay icon. When I click on it, it has an option for "Airplay - Bluetooth." What does this do, and is there any way I can airplay to my Apple TV so I can use my stereo system as a sound system?
- Asked by S Jeffrey G from Boerne
- Dec 26, 2012
- Flag as inappropriate
AnswerYes. However, be advised that Airplay and Bluetooth, through my experience, have a lot of lag, as in slow note/sound response from the receiver or Apple TV. Then again, it may be because I use a Wireless connection on my Apple TV. Either way, Airplay works but to be perfect might as well get yourself a proper amp or decent speaker set.

Is this compatible with Snow Leopard and iPhone 4S with iOS 601 ?
I do have MountainLion (10.7) on and working on an external HD but I don´t want to upgrade my Snow Leopard (10.6.8) due to the lack of support to PPC (many of my Logic plugins !).
Strange that it works with an old iPhone and iOS but not with an old OSX !!
So am I left to the iPhone 4S iOS 601 and Amplitube ? No more iRig ?- Asked by Silke M from Berlin
