Answer
You can use the standard wired phono-jack connector to an iPod or any other audio device. You will not of course have the ability to change tracks or volume with the touch control. You will not have the equalizer or concert hall effects unless the Zik is ALSO connected wirelessly to an iPhone with the Parrot app. And of course you will not be wireless.

How many hours will the battery last when it is fully charged?
- Asked by Ian W from Kelowna

Answer
I get about 6 hours out of mine. When I was recently on a long haul flight I managed to extend the battery life by plugging in the USB cable into the plane seat whilst still using them. It didn't charge the battery (I think they have to be off for this) but it did stop them going flat.

Is it compatible with the iPhone 5?
- Asked by Miguel M from Brooklyn

Answer
Yes the Zik is compatible with iP5 - once you do the firmware update for new iOS.
My use of Zik with my iPhone 5 is the following:
Once you tie the Zik to iPhone 5 via Bluetooth,
* You can control the Zik with Parrot's controller app (noise cancellation, equalizer, concert hall effects, and set whether noise cancellation is active during phone call by default).
* You can use the (Apple) phone and music player with Zik by choosing the Zik as the audio device in those apps; phone offers on-screen audio option, music player uses the same interface you use for AirPlay to choose output).
* if you listening, incoming phone call can be answered with tap or refused. (My experience is that callers prefer me to raise the volume somewhat in order to hear me well).
* Many other apps will also use the Zik for audio output, even those that may not offer a GUI interface to switch the audio output (that is, they will rely on your having set the audio output in phone, music, Pandora, or some other app).- Answered by David B from Fairbanks

Are Ziks compatible with Siri, in the sense that asking Siri to play music will result in this music playing on the Ziks?
- Asked by Dan W from Pittsford
- Feb 2, 2013
- Flag as inappropriate
Answer
Dan,
Yes, you can instruct Siri to play music, in my case from IPad3. If you are listening to music already and want a new song, you can instruct Siri accordingly and you will hear your new selection on the Ziks.
However, Siri went into my contacts to search for the artist in one instance. No harm though after I restated the request. The Ziks and the iPad are a phenomenal combo!

The built-in mic fails with a bluetooth error when connecting to OS X. You would be OK for listening to music on a Mac but not for Skype conversations, dictation, FaceTime or anything using bluetooth mic input. Parrot and Apple REALLY need to talk and work out what is causing the error.

Answer
I'm not sure if it's all headsets in this weight class or all over the ear headphones but even walking around the house in these without the music blasting sounds like an earthquake echoing around inside your head.
Also, wouldn't over the ear headsets get kind of sweaty?- Answered by Guy R from Brooklyn

How does noise cancellation works with this head phone ?
Is it really good ? Can I hear anything going around me ? I am looking to buy for my workplace which is always very noisy. So I am looking for a headphone which cancel the outside noise and also, people don't hear what I am listening to so they don't get disturbed either. Just want to know if this headphone fulfills such requirements or not.

Answer
Multiple published on-line reviewers have indicated the noise cancellation is quite good: better than many other noise-canceling earphones, but perhaps not quite as effective at noise cancelation as the Bose QC. The reviews I've seen that peg the Zik just below the Bose QC for noise cancellation have preferred Zik overall for additional features and better sound quality.
Whether others hear what you are listening to is not dependent on noise cancelation. "Closed" headphones like Zik leak very little sound; "open" headphones that are not acoustically sealed (sound radiates both 'in' to your ears and 'out' to the world) are audible to others. "Open" design seems to facilitate the very best musical reproduction on high end audiophile 'phones designed for critical listening.
All noise canceling earphones introduce some artifacts - some people describe an "echo-y' addition to music played with noise cancelation on or a soft background hiss. Both noise cancelation and headphones themselves seem to isolate more effectively at higher frequencies than lower.- Answered by David B from Fairbanks

Charging battery by USB only or can you use the IPhone charger
- Asked by Gerald M from Edison
- Sep 28, 2012
- Flag as inappropriate
Answer
You can use ANY charger that is rated at 5V. That means absolutely any USB charger is ok, even your usb charger.
What the other person said about the 10W damaging it is incorrect. The device takes only as many Watts as it needs, the 10W means it can supply upto 10 W. Beware of the Voltage though, if its above 5V, then it will damage your headphones.- Answered by Tomas B from Praha
