Does it use power when it is plugged into the cigarette lighter and no iPod or iPhone attached?

Best Answer
There is a small amount of power consumed by the charger adapter, when inserted, lights a LED, however the major power drain occurs, 2 amps x 5v = 15 watts, when a device is connected like the iPad. I would not leave this plugged into an always-on vehicle receptacle for long periods of time. Plug this into a 12v car adapter receptacle than triggers off, with the ignition switch, for safest results, and to prevent battery drain when away from the vehicle. JimW
