Must I have this connector to connect the new nano to my macbook pro?
I would like to buy a new iPod nano. Do I need this connector in order to connect to my macbook pro and sync/charge the new nano, or is there a cable that comes with the device that will have a compatible connection with my macbook?
I don't want to buy extra product, but I don't want to buy a new device that I can't sync because it's not compatible with the computer I have. Please clarify. Thanks.- Asked by Diane T from Beverly

Can I plug this into my iPhone 3gs wall charger and charge the iPad 4?
I can charge my iPhone 5 with the iPhone 3gs wall charger just fine (or the computer). What I would like to do is use the old iPhone 3gs wall plug with this cable at work to charge the iPad 4. I would use the in the box one for home.

How long is this cable?
I used to have a 2m 30pin connector which was a decent length for a phone charger but now I'm stuck with this short one! When I used the old 30pin connector it could reach from the wall plug between my desk and bed to use on both but now I have to charge my brand new iPhone5 on the floor which is as you can imagine, not very safe!

Can I charge my iPhone 5 with this cable attached to the Charger / Adapter of my iPad 3rd Gen.?
The iPad 3rd Generation Charger has two separate parts, one being a USB to 30-pin connector, the other being an AC Plug with a USB port. This AC Plug with a USB port should be connectable to the new lightning to USB Cable and great for charging the iPhone 5.

If used to connect to my car (Chevy Volt), can I control iPod functions?
The Chevy Volt does not use Bluetooth for music functions, just for calls. The USB charging cable on previous iPhones is connected to a USB port in the car. This allows album cover artwork to appear on the car's touchscreen and allows the driver to select songs, albums, playlists, audiobooks, shuffle mode, fast forward, rewind, skip, etc.
I am trying to determine if the cable that comes with the iPhone 5 will allow the same sort of control. It appears the Lightning to Dock Connector won't allow iPod functions of the iPhone to be controlled (*iPod Out not supported).- Asked by Richard S from Colleyville
