If you have actual DJ headphones, they should work just fine. The previous poster is wrong, this is a great device to use with a laptop. It is specifically built to interface with Djay by algoriddim, and actually comes with a license key for that program so you won't have to purchase the program separately.

The djay program offers lots of great features you can use without an interface, but most DJ's prefer to have a physical interface rather than relying totally on a standard keyboard

  • You can use any headphone you like, the only thing is that it's only take 1/4 inch not 3.5 mm. So you might need and adaptor for it. As for music if you using a portable hard drive or have music inside your laptop,I think you can only use it with iTunes only. Djay software only lets you see the iTunes so u might have to drag&drop. You can go to the djay forum and see you can do it different. Hope that helps.

  • This is not a device you want to use with a laptop; this targets devices like the iPad or iPhone (especially the iPad). You will want the music to be in your iTunes library or a particular playlist, and synched to the device.

This is basically designed to be a hardware controller for the functionality of the djay app. (If you look up the Algoriddim website you can read all about it.) Anticipate spending an extra $20 for this app.

You can also look up the Vestax website to read more details about the device. Yes, you can use your regular headphones with it!
