QA Apple SATA Hard Disk Drive Kit for Mac Pro
Product No Longer Available
I have a 2008 MacBook Pro with a 160 Gig hard drive. I am looking for a larger internal drive replacement. Is there one?

Yes. There are many replacements for your MacBook Pro to choose from. Some known good manufactures are Hitachi, Seagate, Western Digital and Samsung. To find out which device you have, click on the apple in the upper left hand corner of your screen and scroll down to 'About This Mac'. Open it. You will see a list of devices on your machine. Click on the SATA hard drive device. You will see the device specs and a model number. Go to the manufacturer's website and find your device's family product line. Do some research on the devices and compare features. You may find one device with the right size but not the right speed. Also some trade-offs may be speed for power consumption on your battery or heating and noise. I like the Hitachi Travelstar series with the 7200rpms speed. The largest size available right now is 500Gb. Make sure you back up your system before you replace a hard drive. I recommend using an external drive with Time Machine to reload your system.
