Can older ipod nanos use any charge cable? Have the connections changed with gen 4,5,6?

I am looking for an additional charge cable for an ipod nano 3rd gen. The compatibility descriptions on off brand cables list only gen 4,5,6. Has the connection cable changed, or do they all use the same cable?

    All iPod Nano models have the 30-Pin connector for charging, syncing and docking except for the latest generation (7th) which has changed to the new Lighting connector. There is also an adapter available to convert 30-Pin to Lightning.
