No, an iPad backup is accomplished through iTunes by connecting it to your computer, not to a Time Capsule.

Your ipad backs up to your computer through itunes.
if you back up your computer to a TimeCapsule - the ipad backup should be backed up to the time capsule as well.- Answered by Gregg V from Fitchburg

Time Machine software can not backup an iPad since iPad is not operated by OS X.

ipad, iphone and ipod touch could only be backed up wifi by iCloud, otherwise use iTunes
