How do I know which Mac has a built-in IR receiver? It's not mentioned in the Tech Specs.

Almost all macs have an IR receiver. Least since 2005. Unfortunately, the new MacBook does not have an IR receiver. It and the Mac Pro are currently the only ones without support.

Click on the Support tab on Apple website and enter this "pairing your apple remote" in the search field. The first entry that pops up in the results should be instructions on how to pair a specific Apple Remote with a computer. It is a outlined step by step process.

The IR receiver is present on: all iMacs starting with the 2005 model (iSight), all intel MacMinis, none of the Mac Pros, all the MacBooks, excluding the new 2009 model, all MacBook Air models, all MacBook Pros, the universal Dock, the Apple TV and the iPod Hi-Fi
