I contacted G-Technologies support in search for the same answer. What they told me was this:
"Thank you for your email and your interest in G-Technology products. Unfortunately, we do not guarantee the performance of any third party hard drives."
If anyone has tried their own drives. I'd really like to know if they had success with them. I would prefer to use my own Seagate Barracuda Greens since they don't use as much power and have lower RPM.
