Macbook Air or IPad for a High School student?
Hi, I am currently in 8th grade and heading into HS next fall. I am really anticipating the move, but am very worried about what tools I will need to navigate through HS, and because I am definitely a MAC and not a PC, I would love to get my hands on some kind of an apple product that will suit me best and run best. In the IPad's case I already have a wireless mouse and trackpad that I could hook up to it and type up documents with, but I am wondering if the IPad will be able to print documents. (I've heard it can only print to certain printers) Another thought I've considered is that I love gaming and surfing the web. These factors including the price difference between the IPad and the Air are urging me toward the IPad but I will also need to get a new printer if I am to do my documents on the IPad, so this will bring me to a conclusion of around $650 for the IPad and around $1,350 for the Air, a $700 difference. So, in my asking, can someone please kindly suggest to me which apple product will suit me best... a MacBook Air, or an IPad 3?

I'd honestly go with the MacBook Air, the iPad is all fine and dandy if your workload is minimal, but when you need to do harsh assignments which take up a lot of your time, it's a lot more easier and nicer to work on a laptop than a tablet. My MacBook Air has lasted through three years of intense hard (non-graphical) work, so it will definitely last you the 4 years of HS. I would even go as far as saying it would also last you your first year of college or university if you're wanting to study something not concerning graphics, film, music creation or photography.

Hi, I am in year 7 and I currently own an iPad 3, previous to the iPad 4. I love my iPad and I believe it is not far off having the capabilities of a MacBook. I would recommend an iPad, as it is worth the $700 difference, it is more portable and buying an Air Printer would benefit you anyway, as you may already have other electronic devices in your household which can be used on the Air Printer.

Hi there you seem like a great student that likes to do things right I would suggest you get the macbook air it's a phenomenal device and gets the job done. It great at detail and is easy to use you can also use any printer its also very durable if you treat it right and and will last you a very long time. The Ipad is also great but is more for fun then any thing else I take my Ipad to school all the time and do some work and take notes on it but for the most part I use me mac to do shcool work and projects love them both.
Hope I could help good luck with your schooling.- Answered by Natalie P from St-joachim

I suggest the MacBook Air because some things that you may need to do, you cannot do on the iPad. For example, flash websites, you cannot access them on the iPad. But, of the air, you can. So I suggest you get the Mac.
