I want to use the quicken home and business version that is only for pc's. If I download parallels do I also need to buy the windows operating system?

Yes you do, but you can download windows 8 preview for free.
Otherwise there are ways of getting softwares for free, but I am not going further on that.- Answered by Samad G

That's right. Installing Parallels will allow you to install a Windows operating system OS like Windows 7 on your Mac. Then you can install your quicken to the Windows OS on your Mac. Nice!

Yes you will need to obtain an activated copy of Windows. Alternatively it might be worth looking into iBank as this can import from your Quicken
If you have problems activating (because you're using it in a VM it's possible) then I would suggest calling Microsoft Activation for support - he sorted me out straight away when it thought both my keys had been used- Answered by James R
