iPad 2 has a dual-core A5 chip, iPad (3rd generation) has a much powerful chip, dual-core A5X chip.
iPad 2 has no retina display, but iPad (3rd generation) has it, making the resolution much higher than iPad 2 and HDTVs.
iPad 2 takes 960 by 720 photos using the back camera, iPad (3rd generation) has a 5-megapixel camera, so that it can take pictures clearer.
iPad 2 has no intelligent assistant (like Siri) built in it, iPad (3rd generation) has Siri in it.
Currently, iPad 2 sells only 16GB (Wifi or Wifi + 3G) models, iPad (3rd generation) is no longer being sold, but if you are okay with refurbished product, refer to the refurbished section of Apple website.
