Probably the best computer speakers...ever!
I heard these speakers at MacWorld 2009 in San Francisco and I was floored. I had never heard of Focal before so I looked them up when I came back from the show. OMG! no wonder they know how to make amazing computer speakers! these guys make the $180k Grande Utopia EM and some $20k studio speakers!
I ordered a system shortly after and I got it last week. Let me tell you. It sounds even better than I remembered. it's unreal! I sat down and went through every single one of my favorite tracks over and over. This system sounds so clean and undistorted!
I've heard systems with more bass but it's not as tight as the XS. Also, some systems play louder but they are more distorted. I rather get the better sound!

Incredible
I just purchased these babies 2 days ago. I have owned every brand in my 24 year life span from Sony, Bose, Pioneer, Klipsch, etc. I expected for the price tag an absolute flawless subwoofer and I must say it sure lives up to the billing. It is a beast that hits accurately when it should, does not distort, or prolong the agony of fine listening. It has quality bass and this is what you will get when you buy the Focal XS subwoofer. The 2 speakers not only look systematically integrated with my 24" iMac by design, but completely and utterly enhance the exterior beauty with the pure luxury of clear, crisp high's that I have never heard from a computer speaker. Make no mistake about it if you own an iMac these are the speakers for you. You cannot go wrong. Sure the high end Focal's sound incredible also, but you will dish out five more benjamin bills for a minor improvement in sound quality and the design is lacking. The Bang & Olufsen Speakers aren't bad but they simply do not have the proper design for quality output. They cannot fulfill the potential of their monetary value. The Focal XS are without a doubt, most definitely the best speakers out there based on price, sound quality, subwoofer performance, and enhancing the iMac computer setup. They are the elite. Buy them. …

Simply the best speakers for Mac
I have been using XS for a while in the office and I must say that they not only they look good and impress my visitors, but the s ound is just astonishing. Since I have them, I have an ipod permanently docked onto the XS and the marriage is perfect for a 50 square meter office !! Well done FOCAL - but not surprising when you know these guys produced the GRAND UTOPIA - the best loudspeaker in the world...

AWSOME!!
Been looking for small speakers for my iPod touch. These speakers rock right out of the box. I think having the separate bass is the key. Tried the Klipsch but the sound was so much bass I boxed them back up and spent the night listening to music through my iPad speaker. I've had Bose but find the sound not clean enough either.
Focal lets you adjust the bass if you like.
I never review anything but for $600 you can't do any better than these for pure cd sound. Very Happy!!!
By the way, I did have to use lightning adapter with my new Ipod Touch - no problem. …- Written by Sharon K from Cypress

Good but not Great
I bought these speakers when they were 1000$. They are very good speakers but not worth even the lower price listed now. I'd take the Bose speakers before these any day. …

This product uses USB to connect to the computer, our setup below requires the use of a headphone jack.

Best Answer
One point to consider - If you use the headphone jack, you will be using your computer's DAC instead of the audiophile-grade DAC built into the subwoofer. Accordingly, It would be best to hook to each computer using USB - perhaps a splitter or some kind of hub will do the trick. …

Are the Focal XS Satellite Speakers compatitable with the iPhone 5?
- Asked by Beth P from Tacoma
- Sep 22, 2012
Answer
Because the Iphone 5 uses a smaller connector then the previous models you won't be able to plug t he phone to the dock on the focal speakers, but if you buy the $29 adapter you will be able to use the dock on the speakers. On saying all this you can use the 3.5 mm connector from the focal speakers and plug it into the Iphone's headphone connection …

I like a fair amount of bass in my music (typically listen to electronica/dance/techno-as-it-were). Is this set-up going to provide good low-end?
- Asked by Craig W from Calgary
- Feb 17, 2010
Best Answer
The Focal XS set up reproduces low end frequencies very well and maintains fidelity without any noti ceable distorsion, ( including CDs brought in to iTunes, using iTunes MP3 sampling defaults). With base-orineted music, such as Techno or House, the sub-woofer comes to life and keeps up with large amounts of air displacement, again with no apparent distorsion. I have had my Focal XS on an iMac 24 for about two months now and I continue to be amazed by the overall sound quality …
