Cashbook VS Quickbooks
Written by BP
Apr 22, 2009
I switched from a PC to a MAC about a year ago. I used Quickbooks for the past 10 years, but, after purchasing the Mac and consulting with my Accountant. I decided to give Moneyworks a try. I have no complaints about Quickbooks, but i do find Cashbook to be easier for entries and finding data is a breeze. Actually the combination has worked out a lot better for me. I do not do any invoices, so that was not a concern, just needed to track the expenses. Great product and highly recommend it. …More

Good Software & easy to use
Written by TF

I made the switch to a Mac about a year and a half ago and I needed something to replace Quicken that I was using on my PC. The Apple store "Genius" recommended Moneyworks and I have been using it since then. The application is easy to use and unlike Quicken it is much more robust in terms of inputting my information and keeping track of my finances. Not only do I use it for my business, but I also use it to keep track of my personal finance as there are no limitations to how many "new" files that I create. Finding information is much more easier than Quicken , and best of all there are free updates and email support, unlike having to buy a new Quicken version each year and paying for a support plan that I hardly use. Setting up a new file is also relatively easy, and allows you to start inputting information right from the get go, without having to first enter the balances from my previous system until I was ready to do so. I plan to start invoicing clients fairly soon, and will probably upgrade to the next product up from this one; and what's great is that the company offers a really smooth upgrade path in terms of cost, and I am able to convert my existing file to that one, without having to go through hoops in terms of conversion. I recommend this product for anyone that has needs for a simple accounting package without the headaches and extra costs typically associated with other applications of its kind. …More

Accountant says "This is great!"
Written by DO from Klamath Falls

I have owned an accounting company for over a dozen years. I recently started doing the books for a nonprofit and needed an inexpensive bookkeeping program to use for them. I decided upon Cashbook because it was inexpensive. I expected that I would get what I paid for. Boy was I surprised!
This program is more intuitive than programs that I have paid thousands for. It does a great job, and is insanely easy to use. The Board of Directors love the built in reports that I am using. I am quite impressed with the Bank Recon.
I am looking forward to trying the enhanced versions of MoneyWorks! …More49 of 49 people found this useful

Not recommended

I recently purchased my first Mac and was looking for software to replace the PC version of Quicken that I was using. I checked out the reviews here which were "not favorable" for Quicken, but "exceptional" for MoneyWorks Cashbook. I made the purchase, installed the software and have gone no further. I have no idea how to begin using this prpgram. I have a 400+ page manual that I need a magnifying glass to read. The only Tech Support available costs $2.00 per minute!!!! I am very disappointed and still have no financial software to use to document the $100.00 I wasted on this program. I do not recommend this if you are looking for software to simply manage home finances. …More

Accountant says "It's all backwards!"
Written by HE from St Catharines
Jul 13, 2009
I've had two accountants look over this software, and they both say "It's all backwards!" According to them, this software probably does the job, but it's not how it is usually done in Canada. (I thought this software development company was based in Canada, but as it turns out it's based in Australia). I cannot recommend this software at all. I wasted my money on it and had to get QuickBooks (and a new PC, because QuickBooks discontinued on Mac's). …More

All MoneyWorks applications will allow you to import bank statements or credit card statements from your financial institutions. File formats for import include MSMoney format as well as QuickBooks & Quicken formats and others.
If desired, transactions imported (deposits, payments, fees) can be auto-coded in most cases and auto-entered as transactions into MW from the imported statements. Your choice.
There is no direct integration to banks built in, you need to import the text file. MoneyWorks support. …More- Answered by MS
