Great Product! A must have.
this is a great product if you use it properly. Because it is a lithium polymer battery it needs to be charged fully then drain fu lly and charged fully etc... to keep it healthy. I get about 4 - 4.5 hours out of this if I i drain it and then charge it (like above). when i first used it like normal i only got about two hours until i realized that you had to do this. This is a great product and if you use it in this way you can even achieve as much as five hours! This is a great product and i would highly recommend it.
note: if you use this technique from the start, the battery heath can increase from what it was when you first get it. …- Written by Michael P from Sydney

Like you even have a choice
I love seeing 5-star reviews for this thing. Here is the truth: the MacBook battery is big, heavy, and will only get you an additi onal 2-2.5 hours of battery life under normal usage. Yeah, you need one. No, it is not great. …

Great
I got this battery because I was going to be going on a 10 hour plane ride. It was very, very nice to be able to keep my computer for almost the whole trip. I have read a lot of people saying that it last for 3 or 4 hours, but here is a tip, turn down the brightness level on the screen to as low as it can go (I can get by on a notch of 1 when there is a light on in the room). When on the lowest level, the battery lasts for around 5 hours, sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more. I would recommend this for someone who uses their MacBook for long periods of time. …

Works great......big price tag
I bought my Macbook in March 2008 and after five glorious problem free years with my trusty notebook, I am just now having to repl ace the battery. I was surprised to read reviews saying the battery failed after just 18 months. I work on the road as a traveling consultant. My early 2008 Macbook gets vigorous daily use and has been bumped, banged, dropped and literally slid across a floor for 27 feet once but it's still completely functional and the battery had never failed until just this month in June 2013.
Nothing electronic lasts forever, but for a notebook battery to last 5 years is great in my opinion. I'm not happy about the $129 replacement cost but hey, it's Apple and we're all aware that they're not known for being inexpensive. …- Written by Nikki R from Miami

Macbook early 2008 edition (white) 1336 Cycles!
Most people don't know how to diagnose a computer over the years and take care of it. However, I still understand that internal er rors occur with no fault to the user. My computer is currently 62 months old and still holds an 88 percent charge. (Thats 4426 mAh compared to the design capacity of 5020 mAh). It's been through 1336 cycles and counting. At this point I feel like it will last forever, but I know that's not true. I came here to say I will be buying a new macbook soon and I hope I can mirror these results. Hopefully I didn't just get lucky and these batteries can really last over half a decade as mine did the first time. …

Yes there is a difference between the two of them. It just has to do with they way the work and the life of the battery. However all you can get for the MacBook is the polymer battery. On mine I have had it over a year and I still get about 4 to 5 hours and I use it for internet and to take notes in college. …

Hi Anthony
I recently ordered a replacement MacBook Rechargeable Battery so can hopefully help he re.
The battery I ordered was a "MacBook Battery (White)" Model A1185 and the Apple product code was MA561G/A. So it does indeed seem to match the product you are asking about.

My cycle count was slightly above 350 when it began to tell me I should consider replacing it. It is now over 400 and telling me I should replace it soon. I intend to do so. I have a habit of letting it almost completely discharge before recharging it. I have had this unit for over 4 years and it has been my principal home computer. …
