The one-star review was from someone that does not own the product. His review was to rant about WD. This drive is less than 3 y ears old, yet he claimed the drive failed out of warranty, a 3-year warranty. He claimed WD would do nothing. His post was June 2013, so it is impossible for the drive to be out of warranty. All hard drives are susceptible to failure, it is a spinning disk. I have had two WD drives fail and their warranty was excellent for both external and internal bare drives. Go to their website, enter the serial number, and request a drive swap. I had a PATA 500GB drive go bad within the 3 year warranty and they offered me a 1TB SATA since they were out of stock on PATA drives. How could that be bad service? The WD 3TB is a great drive. If he really owned a drive that failed after the warranty expired, then of course WD would not replace the drive. Warranties have expirations.

  • WD are terrible drives

    1.0 out of 5 stars

WD drives are notorious for failing I now realize after my drive has failed and I've researched. I had babied this drive and only used it for back ups once a month or so. My drive stopped working right after the warranty period. When I contacted WD they told me they couldn't help and suggested I go to their data recovery partners. That should be a warning-a company that has many data recovery partners because their drives fail on a regular basis. I will never do business with this company again as the drives they sell are VERY cheap. You get what you pay for.
