This leaves so much jostle room with my MBP Retina inside as to be practically useless -- I might as well just throw this $2300 computer into my bookbag, since this provides no added bump protection whatsoever. Very disappointed.

The zipper can be a little hard to close/open sometimes because of the water seal, but it's not cumbersome and makes sense. The interior material seems to be soft enough that it won't scratch the macbook, while at the same time offers decent airflow and shouldn't overheat the macbook. The included tie-down strap inside is also nice and should keep your macbook from falling out should you have accidentally left it unzipped or something along those lines.

Really, the only downside is that the macbook sits low inside, which means if you have any type of thunderbolt cable or a usb drive that's bigger than say the Logitech Unifying Receiver (this fits inside the case just fine) it means you either can't use it while this macbook is in the case or that the macbook will sit at an angle, resting on whatever you have plugged in to it. If that's not a problem for you, though, then this is a very nice and versatile case.

The fit is not snug, but acceptable - the laptop has about a 1/2 inch to move on all sides. For travel there is a secure middle velco strap that works to keep the laptop from sliding. You can definitely use the laptop in the case, but not if you need to use any of the ports. It has kept my MBP dust-free and scratch-free for a few months now with no problems. My only complaints are that the zippers could be a little smoother. They are sturdy but not as smooth as the traditional incase cases. Also I wish there was one specifically made for the retina display model so it could be as small as possible. Overall, it is a sturdy case that will protect your laptop, and is especially good for traveling.

now for the pros and cons:
Pros: looks great, relatively cheap, fits my computer well,
Cons: the zippers are hard to open at first, my computer slides around a little bit while in the casee

Also, because of the wraps that let you use the MBP within the case 'clamshell' open it also means that when in your rucksack you cannot unzip one end and take your MBP out. This is the same complaint with the other sleeves offered here.. :-(

When you zip the sleeve, right behind the zipper, there is a ridge of piping that goes all the way around the sleeve to provide side and corner bump protection. The loose fit allows airflow when you're using the computer without taking it out of the case, and the extra 1/2" of movement as you're carrying it around doesn't add any risk of scratches or dents. The upper and lower molded indentations lifts the laptop off the table when you're working in-the-case, and provides room for airflow and heat dispersion underneath the case. When you use the laptop out-of-case, the elastic strap is just strong enough so that when you slip your laptop in (I don't bother to un-Velcro and re-Velcro the strap when I take the MBP totally out of the case -- I just stretch the elastic already fastened, and slip the laptop through), the strap keeps the laptop within one side of the clamshell, and it is surprisingly secure. I heard this feature was added when people complained that their MBPs would slide out as they were trying to close the zipper. Now that's no longer a problem. The zipper is hard to close, but that seems to be a part of the water-proofing design to give good, tight fit along the zipper. You get used to using the opposing forces of the two zipper heads to unzip and zip the thing. I don't understand how some other reviewers can say that having this is like having nothing. This is no Otterbox, but it's not nothing, and I would argue it is much much more protective than a regular neoprene or padded fabric sleeve.
