Audio Nerdom!
I just got my Libratone Zipp last week and have managed to fall in love with an inanimate object. As an audio engineer/audiophile I've been looking for a good airplay speaker. When AirPlay technology originally surfaced, I was a bit of a skeptic but this purchase has changed my position all together. Though the speaker is a bit costly, the clear balanced-tone Libratone has manged to achieve is enough to sooth those "empty wallet blues." The "PlayDirect" feature is one of my favorite features this product has to offer. Most airplay speakers require a wifi network to enable the airplay capability, and because of PlayDirect, I purchased the Zipp over another. I hope you enjoy this purchase as much as I am enjoying mine right now!
"PlayDirect is AirPlay on-the-go! No need for a Wi-Fi network connection or complicated set-up. Libratone PlayDirect is freedom of sound made very, very easy." -Libratone.com …- Written by Sam G from Eagle River

This Speaker made me a believer!
Elegante and stylish with is cylindrical design. I sound compared it to the Bose airlink and the Bowers and Wilkens A5 and the Lib ratone Zipp one a place in my home sounds much much bigger than it is. I haven't yet utilized the portable aspects of this product yet. …

Great Speaker Flawed Design
I loved my zipp, but after only a couple of days the power button was mashed in and the speaker required a return. Apple refunded my money.
Building portable speakers requires more than just aesthetics for intelligent design it takes industrial thought. I had noticed that the power button was flimsy when my zipp first arrived, and after travelling with it found out that it truly was. :(
Hopefully B&W or B&O options work out better for me. …- Written by Marc H from Houston

Can you use Pandora on an ios device and have it stream to the Libratone Zipp? Do you need a special app to make it work?
- Asked by Megan B from Atlanta
- Dec 7, 2012
Answer
No special app is required for the Zipp, however Libratone does have an app out that you'll want to get for it (a FREE app). Otherwise, the speaker works off of the standard Airplay technology, so proximity then becomes the factor.
As of now, I have been successful using Pandora, Rdio, Netflix, and Hulu with the speaker, so to answer your second question, yes, it is compatible. …- Answered by Sam G from Eagle River
