Although they still leak, it is not nearly as bad as the studios. On the other hand these are great headphones & the noise cancellation is awesome. The bass does not kick as hard as the studios, but i kind of like that. They feel great on my head & fit around my ears nicely. Honestly I like my Bose in ear headphones a little bit better, but these are a close second.

What stoped me was the horrible quality, becuase of the plastic build in the solos and studios. The executive have that enchanting beats look and now that they are made out of aluminum they are even better. The sound quality is great and in my opinion better than the Bose quiet comforts. Trust me, before theses came outI did not like/supprt beats in any way because i thought it was too high price for the headphones. Now that the executives have active noise canclation, aluminum build and look great there is no reason why this should not be your first option when buying a set of headphones in this price range!

Having used them quite a few times on a number of journeys back and forth across the Atlantic can truly say they are both comfortable for extended wear and sound simply amazing…

Noise cancellation works really well (especially on a flight) allowing yourself to be immersed in the music or a movie rather than the endless drone of engines.

Having them fold flat and in a neat little case is also great for travelling.

As others have said, great build quality and feels (and looks) the business.

This was the reason that I initially chose to buy these over the new studios. However, the minute I tried them, I found that I could not listen to my music without the hissing of the noise cancellation in the background, which really bothered me. I returned them as soon as I could and bought the studios instead, which are MUCH better.

  • Decent noise cancelation, but not ideal for sound quality, and hisses

These actually sound the best of any Beats headphones to date in terms of music. Unfortunately, the hissing sound of the noise cancel feature detracts from the fidelity and cannot be turned off.

    - The Active Noise Cancellation cannot be turned off and when listening in a quiet environment, like at home, you can hear a hiss both in between tracks and when quieter music is playing. So while the noise cancellation does work when on a plane or train for example, the fact that it cannot be disabled is a major disadvantage. If you turn the switch on these headphones off, they will not play any sound at all even if you turn on the music.

On the plus side, the isolation these provide is quite good and the noise cancellation works fairly well, even when you are not playing any music, you mostly hear the hiss rather than the noise in your environment. I tried it without any music and went right up to my refridgerator as a test and I could not hear the fridge, just the hissing of these headphones.

For a long commute or plane right, noise canceling headphones can almost be a life saver and do make a difference. You will not feel as fatigued and will be more relaxed when you arrive to your destination.

    - The noise canceling feature is a trade off for sure. Sonically, the bass is a bit pronounced, which I expected (sound like you have your subwoofer on all the time) and they highs are fine (not harsh, which is good), but the mids sound a bit muffled.

    - These are not very comfortable to wear and start to hurt my ears and head a bit after a while, maybe because they are a bit heavier than most headphones.

    - While these do not have any Red coloration on the headphones, the cable is still Red, defeating the 'executive' business person look of them.

    - The slim hard case is nice, but the way the headphones fit into it is awkward and there is not really enough room for the cable in the case. You can squeeze the cable in there, but it's a bit of a kludge.

I can only recommend these headphones if you travel a lot and have a real need for noise cancelation. They would be great to use to watch a move on a plane for example or if you are in your hotel and just want to get to sleep but the air conditioner or people in the room next door are making a bit too much noise.

Skip these for serious audiophile music listening however. I also think the price is too high so what would normally be a three star review becomes a two star review do to the high price.
