Very Nice... (with one minor fault)

Keeps things together perfectly as advertised if you plan on using it in a "couch" scenario. One thing to note is that if you're going to use it on a desk (as I do) the vertical "I" bar that attaches the trackpad and keyboard slightly restricts the use of the physical pad click (makes it a bit harder to push down). The solution I found is to install the long "C" clamp without the "I" bar. This still keeps the keyboard neatly together with the trackpad but allows the click feature of the trackpad to "float" and it's physical click feater is unaltered. If you're going to use it in a couch scenario, install it as directed since as you won't be using the physical click but rather tapping on the pad. …More

Works well with a couple flaws

When using on my lap, I would like to "click" the magic trackpad, but alas, the only option it the tap-to-click option in settings because there's no hard surface.

When using on a desk, if you have a heavy typing hand (I only learned of mine after using this product), you will unintentionally click the trackpad when pressing keys near the bottom corner of the keyboard. This can become extremely irritating because the curser will jump around as if you intended to move or it; or it will recognize a double-click and select the text, overwriting already typed words.

I love the concept of the MagicWand and I think the design is sleek and beautiful. I only wish the usability wasn't hindered in practice. I'm keeping mine, but training myself to use it differently. Some people may not want to bother. …More

While I would've liked better build quality (the plastic spacer between the trackpad and keyboard falls out if you don't set it up just right), this is how the keyboard and trackpad should've been designed to begin with. You'll need to set tap-to-click if you want to use it on your lap. …More

Cheap plastic, a little disapointed

Maybe I didn't read the description well enough, but I really wasn't expecting this to be plastic. Its painted like aluminum, but its still adds a cheap feel to my all aluminum peripherals. Twelve South usually makes some really cool stuff... but they always seem to cheap out on the details... for the high cost, this was definitely a huge disappointment. …More

How do you turn the keyboard on/off when the trackpad is next to it? Do you have to take it off the wand?

Yes, however I never turn off my trackpad or my keyboard. Yeah I need replace them once in a while, but not nearly as often as you might think... maybe once every 45-60 days, when left on.
And if you don't use it that often then you get even longer battery life, like about 180 days or more.
I own three of these because I am running 3 iMacs at the same time, so therefore I am pretty sure of my stats in this matter.

Yes, they do, however, it is wired via USB. The only Apple bluetooth wireless keyboard with a keypad was a white one, before they changed to the aluminum keyboards with the chiclet keys in 2007. It was made from 2003 to 2007. If you want a numberpad on your keyboard you can either get the aluminum USB one Apple currently sells, or go hunt down the old white bluetooth model. …More
