Apple LED Cinema Display (24" flat panel)
With the 24-inch Apple LED Cinema Display, you can turn your new MacBook into a desktop in three easy connections. The universal MagSafe connector charges your notebook. A new Mini DisplayPort connector makes attaching an external display even easier and faster than before. And a USB connector provides access to three USB 2.0 ports. There's also a built-in iSight camera, microphone, and speaker system that provide a true desktop experience. Made of aluminum and glass, the LED Cinema Display is the perfect companion for the new MacBook family. And it’s now compatible with Mac desktop computers that have a Mini DisplayPort: Mac Pro, Mac mini, and iMac.

Apple LED Cinema Display (24" flat panel)
Wonderful Display (if you can get over the limited compatibility)
Written by AJ from Wasaga Beach

It took several visits to the Apple store to get comfortable with the idea of making this purchase. To drop a cool grand on a display that can only be connected at this point (Feb 09) to the new Mac Books is a difficult notion to get ones head around. There are several other excellent options out there, the Dell 2408wfp was also on my list. The Dell has more connection options than you could possibly make use of, has very good image quality, an integrated card reader, several USB ports and so on. The Dell is also at least $300 cheaper. The Apple LED on the other had has only mini display port and 3 USB ports.
So why did I go with this display? Simply put the image quality is incredible. Some will suggest this display can't be considered colour accurate, and that it is not suitable for photographers etc. I'm sure this may apply to true professionals, but as a hobby photographer, the colour accuracy suits my needs extremely well. Despite rumors to the contrary, I did not have any trouble calibrating this display with my Spyder2 Pro.
The LED back light is wonderful and I love the glossy screen. I work in a North facing room, and I keep the lights low in the evening. I have not experienced any issues with glare, non, what so ever. The integrated USB, Magsafe, iSight camera and mini display port adapters make this the perfect accessory for the Mac Book. The integrated speakers are decent too, not great but acceptable. I suspect the new models of the i Mac, Mac Mini and Pro will also be able to use this display when they are released.
So in summary, yes this is a very expensive display compared to some of the competition, but if you have the cash I highly recommend this product. It really is awesome.
Apple, if your looking for an opinion, add a few more USB ports, drop the price some and release adapters for older Mac Books. …More1356 of 1499 people found this useful

Apple LED Cinema Display (24" flat panel)
Ambiguously Specialized Yet ...
Written by IC from Washington
Feb 13, 2009
The name of this product, Apple LED Cinema Display, offers no indication that it's specialized for laptops with a Mini DisplayPort. We purchased it with a Mac Pro, assuming that it was the newest rev of a product that's historically been compatible with standard DVI ports.
There is no adapter available to port Mini DiplayPort to DVI.
There is no Mini DisplayPort expansion card for the Mac Pro through this vendor. (I dunno bout the others.)
We will be sending it back, and wondering why the 23" is no longer available for our new Mac Pro, and other DVI-ported machines, and annoyed about the resulting downtime for our enduser.

Apple LED Cinema Display (24" flat panel)
Very nice but hard to see the value
Written by MS from Brooklyn

I think this is an awesome display as far as styling and quality go but I see a few flaws.
- Mac Mini-DP does not play sound (was hoping to convert to HDMI and watch on TV, cant)
- Not high resolution (17" MBP runs same res as 24" cinema)
- Almost $1000 after tax
- Not much noticeable color improvement over Mac's current LED displays.
- Speakers do not compensate for the price
This will probably get much improvement in the next refresh. …More1095 of 1363 people found this useful

I did buy a refub product and saved $300. THe only thing missing is an adaptor so I can use it with my pc as I do work from home sometimes and use PC for work and love my MAC at the sametime …More

Apple LED Cinema Display (24" flat panel)
Suits me!
Written by JM from Toronto

Given the relatively high price, it took some time and thought before I finally took the plunge. But after a week with this display I am very happy with my decision to buy. Great product in all respects, although I had to exchange the first unit because there was a piece of debris behind the glass when I unpacked it. Odd. However, combined with a Logitech diNovo Mac keyboard (sorry, I don't like Apple keyboards), a Magic Mouse and the Rain Design mStand I have a great desktop setup plus the mobility of a laptop when I need it in my consulting business. I'm happy. …More

24" Cinema Display Not As Good as Older Displays
Written by LE from New York
Dec 22, 2009
First the 24" is glossy. Personally I that having to lower the shades on a bright sunny day so that I see my screen without straining to be a price I don't want to pay.
My older 23" cinema display does not have this problem as it is non glossy.
Second on my 2006 vintage macbook pro the hassles I have been going through to get the new screen to work (such as to lower the brightness) has been impressive. So far about 6 hours with tech support.
Happily my 14 deadline for returning the 24" is not up, and I plan to return the 24" for a refund (minus 10% restocking fee).
Don't get this display. …More1 of 1 people found this useful

Actually you can. There's now a DVI to DisplayPort converter. It's by Atlona and it will set you back USD$179. Do a search for "Atlona AT-DP200" for more details. An easier way will be to simply buy a new video card with a DisplayPort output. …More

It can't. Your MacBook has a mini DVI port. This monitor needs to be paired using the new mini display port. There are no converters for connecting a DVI output to display port devices. …More
