The new Magic Mouse redefines what a mouse should do. In addition to its smooth, seamless top-shell design that acts as one button or two, Magic Mouse features a Multi-Touch surface with gesture support. Scroll vertically, horizontally, and diagonally — a full 360 degrees — simply by touching anywhere on the top surface. With a greater surface area for scrolling, you can get around a long timeline in iMovie, through a lengthy web page in Safari, or around a set of images in iPhoto more efficiently. You can also swipe through pages in Safari or photos in iPhoto with two fingers. It’s the most advanced Apple mouse ever made.

The seamless, one-button design of Magic Mouse makes it simple to use right out of the box. But if you want the functionality of a two-button mouse, that’s easy, too. While I like the idea of the magic mouse tremendously, I find that scrolling is no where near as precise as scrolling on the iPhone. I like to scroll through webpages slowly as I read along, and zoom in and out of google maps, but scrolling with this mouse results in jerky motions, which end up over-shooting the amount of scrolling I desired. I am sure there will be improvements in the future, but as for now, I'm not as happy with this product as I would like to be.
At first I was skeptical of having a wireless mouse, but it seems to be working OK. After two weeks of use, I'm at 81% charge. It would be better if this mouse had a lithium ion rechargeable battery, and the option for a usb connection at the front so that you would always have a backup way of using your mouse when the battery dies. …More4 of 6 people found this useful

I have to admit that I don't own this mouse yet but I have used it some in the store. There are two features that I'd like to see in the mouse. First, I think it would be nice to support a two-finger tap as a right-click. As a MBP owner, I'm already used to the two-finger tap and I was a bit disconcerted when I noticed that the magic mouse didn't support it. Also, another reviewer mentioned the ability to switch between using it like a mouse and a trackpad. I think that might be cool also.

Elegant in appearance and use. I adapted to its shape and manner of use instantly. Screen response is excellent; no delays as in some other wireless mice. Mouse has a substantial feel, yet is compact and fits my small hands well.

I'm running an HP laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate. The Magic Mouse paired with the laptop
via Bluetooth on the first try. Windows added a generic driver, which provides all cursor
movement and button click functions. I have not yet discovered how to add scrolling and
swiping or any other "wheel mouse" functions or any additional buttons.
But the basic functionality is there and the simple Windows mouse driver even supports
setting the cursor speed and accelleration and click speed and other properties, so I think
it's just matter of time before I discover how to engage the other functions by learning the
scan codes used by the device and emulating them in a TSR. Of course, I'll prefer to have a
driver that will handle that, but I've literally just installed the device and am only now starting
to search.
