The new Magic Mouse redefines what a mouse should do. In addition to its smooth, seamless top-shell design that acts as one button or two, Magic Mouse features a Multi-Touch surface with gesture support. Scroll vertically, horizontally, and diagonally — a full 360 degrees — simply by touching anywhere on the top surface. With a greater surface area for scrolling, you can get around a long timeline in iMovie, through a lengthy web page in Safari, or around a set of images in iPhoto more efficiently. You can also swipe through pages in Safari or photos in iPhoto with two fingers. It’s the most advanced Apple mouse ever made.

The seamless, one-button design of Magic Mouse makes it simple to use right out of the box. But if you want the functionality of a two-button mouse, that’s easy, too. Just change the configuration in System Preferences. And the ambidextrous construction means Magic Mouse is great for lefties or righties.

    Good mouse, good idea but way too wireless. in a prepress production environment where the mice is open 15 hours a day, 2 AA regular batteries is just not enough. Why Apple didn't built it with internal rechargeable battery with a connectable USB wire that can be hooked up while working or off-hours for recharging??? …More

    Good, but scroll gesture interpretation could be a little better

    Overall, I like the mouse. In fact, I have 3.

    That being said, Apple could do a bit to improve the finer points of its gesture interpretation. The mere act of touching your palm to the mouse can sometimes be interpreted as a scroll gesture. To avoid this you have to hold the mouse from the sides without touching your palm to it. In certain applications, this becomes incredibly annoying because after scrolling I have to re-center the window.

    It seems like this could all be avoided by forcing the mouse to only interpret scroll gestures if they initiate in the top half of the mouse. Since the palm of your hand usually only touches the bottom of the mouse, this would reduce inadvertent scrolls and still allow for longer scrolls that cross the mid-way threshold.
