Avoid this microphone. The USB mini-B connector used is prone to problems.

    • Written by from Mississauga

I've had my brand new Blue Yeti for less than a week. I really wanted to like this microphone, and bought it based on the excellent reviews for sound quality, etc. However, you are gambling if you buy this microphone. The connection to the computer is unreliable at best: for me, it drops most of the time unless I lightly hold the cable end in place with a light finger touch.

This problem is a result of the use of the USB mini-B connector, and because of that, I'm unlikely to simply exchange my unit for another because the mini-B connector is a known source of problems. Just search for the question "Why was Mini USB deprecated in favor of Micro USB?" and you'll understand: "poor reliability after a significant but not vast number of uses." (Very few uses, in my case.)

I can't recommend this microphone until and unless Blue releases a new version addressing the issue.

No sound, no volume control, no Apple return

    • Written by from North Adelaide

I purchased this item but I did not open it for a few weeks. It does not work at all. The volume knob is not fixed, there is no sound although it receives power. The Apple Return policy refers to goods you can return online and goods you can't. It then speaks to returnable items and ignores un-returnable items. Australian consumer law protects unworkable items but Apple doesn't account for that. I am about to leave for overseas where I need to use this item for fieldwork. $300 down the drain. It's a disaster. It's so disappointing now to find so many negative reviews online about the YetiPro which 'has no gain' that the fantastic quality sound was never going to be heard.

    Way too sensitive

    • Written by from Maple

This mic is way too sensitive even with the gain a quarter from zero. It amplifies anything and everything even on another floor. I have no choice but to return it as even with the gain set to 0, I end up hearing a buzzing noise.

    Blue Yeti Pro USB

    • Written by from Valley Village

Upgraded to Lion OS X and Blue Yeti Pro. Does not work. When plugged in USB, the cable is loose light blinks. Seems high quality product, but manufacturer skimps on updates and fixes. Spent approx $300, and very upset with Apple and Blue for not resolving before launch.

A quick search reveals that many others are having this issue. Try to avoid investing in USB microphone until Apple or Blue resolve this issue.
