It does what it's supposed to do

    • Written by from IRVINE

Okay first of all, if you can't tell by LOOKING at this unit at the Apple store or on eBay or where ever you plan on purchasing it, that' it's NOT FOR SERIOUS DJ's & it's more for the home DJ who just wants to unwind & mix his/her own stuff then you're not very smart or you're just looking to get disappointed.

But I got a kick out one review who stated, "There are no waveforms and everything is mixed by listening to the beats and manually beatmaching by ear."

Ummmmm you mean like A REAL DJ, kind of like learning how to DJ off real vinyl, turn turntables & a mic??? I couldn't help but laugh at that review.

It's like someone saying, "Instead of buttons & controller & a 50 inch plasma you have to actually go outside pick up the basketball get your hands dirty, get sweaty & use your muscles to throw the ball in the hoop"!!

This is the real review for serious DJ's...

    • Written by from Brooklyn

    DON'T GET IT.

If you're a serious DJ, you're better off paying another $100 and getting the Traktor Kontrol S2 for $399. This spin is cool if you're a small bedroom dj and doing it as a hobby but I still wouldn't recommend paying $280 for this. The gain slider has to be played with every time you load a new song, otherwise it will sound low. Sound card is not good. I just can't recommend this, even for newbies.

    The Vestax Spin is...

    • Written by from Ashford

The Vestax Spin is the best of the best in portable DJAYING It would not get 100% 5tars with non portable heavy duty final but definitely comes close. This is good for anyone beginning to DJ possibly a professional for fun but not professionally at a place such as a Night Club.

    Soundcard is bad

    • Written by from Surrey

I was pleased when I bought one because it is easy to use, light and portable. There are two problems. The first is the way the software looks; the bpm display is so small it is hard to read. They really need to improve the graphics.
The major problem is the sound card, which makes it impossible to use professionally. The sound is thin and tinny, nothing like the sound that goes straight from my computer to a mixer.
It is fine for home use in a basement party but no good when you put it through big speakers.

    waste!

    • Written by from Huntsville

as an upcoming dj i was pretty excited to get my vestal spin!! unfortunately its a waste of money... the mic was worthless, the sound card was junk and it was just horribly non responsive... ya i know its cheap but still it should be better than it is. just as an amateur dj i can tell that its not able to hold up to n thing more than a 5 yr old would need to do. I've already went straight back to Numark

    Jonny Jams

    • Written by from Albany

I worked as a dj For 8 years. Spinning on Newmark decks and controllers using cds and hard media. Now switched to Mac book pro with Vestax Spin and djay 3 software. Use for small jobs and fun with friends works well for the money not sure if it would hold up to club use. I am planning to use for summer in a club and will see how it lasts. Software not hard to use love I-tunes sysnc . The mic is weak but run real mic through mixer works just fine.

    Cool product, but unfortunately unusable.

    • Written by from Georgetown

The Vesatex Spin DJ USB Controller is a great product. The wheels feel great, and the touch sensitivity works seamlessly with the djay software. The faders seem a bit cheap, but integrate seamlessly with the software and work perfectly. I wish that there was more control over effects from the controller. The effects are pitch, echo, and reverb, and the only thing you can do from the controller is activate one effect (and I've only been able to activate echo from the controller. The other two I have to use my mouse). Overall, the controller is a 4 star product.

The big issue for me, however, is the software. The software would be fantastic, except for one huge flaw that ruins it. When loading a track onto one of the virtual turntables (we'll say B-Table), sometimes (not every time, but quite often), the track that is playing (A-Table) will slow down, skip, and become choppy until the B-Table track is loaded and the beat is analyzed. This downfall makes this product entirely unusable. I cannot mix music knowing that loading tracks will cause the playing track to chop and skip. It's an issue that ruins the entire product for me.

I won't be returning it yet since it's still fun to play around with and I use it to practice putting together mixes that will be performed on different equipment, but for anything more than playing for yourself or checking out arrangements to see if they work well together, this software/hardware combination is useless due to the skipping playback. An unfortunate downfall to an otherwise great product.

    VERY ENJOYABLE, MEETS EXPECTATIONS.

    • Written by from Covina

I bought the Vestax Spin mostly for personal enjoyment and some local partying and I already love it. I know that someone commented in another post that it is not compatible with any other software than djay, and i just want to confirm that statement is WRONG. I use my SPIN with Virtual DJ Pro. It works with legit and cracked versions. Not all the buttons match up with Virtual DJ though so be warned. The only negative things are that its somewhat hard to scratch because its small, and the scratching does sound electric rather than authentic vinyl because....well there is nothing that sounds like vinyl unless it is vinyl. But who wants to drop 3 thousand for vinyl turntables? its a great buy, i approve!

    vestax spin

    • Written by from East Stroudsburg

love this product. I use this to dj all my events and is top notch! scratching sometimes sounds
a little "digitalized" somethimes, rather than a true vinyl scratch, however that is the only somewhat
negative thing i can say. 4.5stars!!!!

    Can't wait to use, BUT...

    • Written by from avondale

I purchased this to use for my 7th & 8th grade dances. I've been playing with it at home and it seems to be perfect, I'm tired of all the cds and they get heavy. HOWEVER I quickly discovered that most of the new music I have from iTunes is DRM protected and cannot be played through this unit. It was my hope to download music for the dances from iTunes but that doesn't seem to be an option. I guess I'll just have to import cds.

    What A Great Product!!

    • Written by from agoura hills

After hearing about djing for a while, I decided to try it out myself. During a lot researching i discovered this product on the apple online store. It is just absolutely amazing in all aspects. It's price is very affordable compared to professional equipment and can do many of the features a professional system can. I am not a professional dj or i have not been djing for a while, but I can say that this product is everything I expected and more. I have been using this for a little more than half a year and it always entertains me. One of the best features is the seamless integration between the itunes library and djay software. I would recommend this product to people that just want to start out as djs or for beginner djs. Overall this is just a great product hardware and software.

    Not sure what to expect

    • Written by

I am a fanatic of music and have been an admirer of the DJ since the late 80's. While I have always wanted to be a DJ, I never had the funds nor the time to invest. I came across this little machine when I bought my MacBook in the summer of 2010. It took a couple of weeks to learn and practice the basic fundamentals of mixing music seamlessly.

From someone who has never DJ'd, nor knows anything about the professional equipment to compare to, this system is perfect. I can put together mixes for the gym or to simply enjoy.... and chics totally dig it! haha!

    Vestax Djay

    • Written by from lompoc

I walked in to Apple looking around and found this system. The guy said i had 15 days to try it out. So for $250 I was able to sink up right to my Itunes and even run a Mic with Pitch and FX. The Eq work great and stopped using my turn tables after this! I give it 5 stars for how easy it is to Pick up and just play music. The automix is the best part!
